I just heard the Patriots are going to sign George Brett to play left tackle this year. They figured he is already the greatest third baseman by a mile, he will probably be the greatest LT also.

Agreed, he hasn’t been all that great the past few seasons but I think that was due to Aaron Rodgers looking to get the ball to Davante Adams on nearly every pass play. Cobb should be an upgrade over Beasley in my opinion. Looking good on paper so far in big D 👍

I dont think it will matter who anyone gets this off season. The Patriots are going to win the superbowl again anyway. They always do. They have won 15 straight superbowls.

I think Beasley's numbers were diminished a lot by an ineffective scheme. I wouldn't be surprised if he thrives a little now.
Nice trade today by the Cowboys getting Robert Quinn for a 2020 6th rounder. Him coming of the right edge, with Lawrence coming off the left, should make for a great duo.

Yep the offense is pretty well stacked. One concern for me is Dak. He needs to improve his accuracy missing too many open receivers last year. The vision of Michael Gallup streaking literally wide open down field and being overthrown still haunts me. It happened 3 times last year that would have been easy TDS.
The defense needs improvement from the secondary especially the safety position. They signed some hack from Minnesota, George lioka. Not sure how that's going to pan out. I haven't heard too many positive things about the guy
Matt hopefully Dak keeps up the good rapport with Cooper at least, that in itself is enough to win some games like you saw last year, he was a beast. The LB Corp is pretty solid, I’m not familiar with Iioka but a change of scenario can motivate some guys to play better.
The Pats just signed Tight End Austin Seferian-Jenkins to a one year deal. He should be a great pickup for them especially in the red zone.
edit: for some reason I thought ASJ was the TE that caught all of the TDs for the Colts last season, that was Eric Ebron. ASJ should still be a decent pickup though.
ASJ had a great year a few years ago with the Jets, he fell off last year but he has talent. He should fill the pass catching needs at TE, not so sure about the blocking though.

I'd still like to see BB try to grab another TE in the first or second round. Possibly a WR too.
I agree. I think we can repeat this year and we need some playmakers.
I'd love to see them grab one of the two Iowa TEs and Umass WR Andy Isabella who looks like he'd be a great replacement for Edelman down the road. Another tackle would be good too
I read that Demaryous Thomas came in for a chat with the Pats? If his legal issue is behind him I’d love to see him in a Pats Jersey, he is a big bodied receiver, something we haven’t had in New England in a long time.

Yeah its a longshot without trading up. Two other teams that I think might try to grab a tight end early are the Packers at 12 & Titans at 19. I doubt BB trades up that far for a tight end.

Looks like just Chris Hogan signed with the Panthers. I was hoping that BB would reach out to him at some point about coming back to the Pats even though his role had diminished this past season.
Between Burkhead's injury history since coming to NE,Jeremy Hill's season ending in week one and Michel dealing with multiple injuries last season I think that you can never have too many RBs especially ones that have already proven that they can catch the ball at the NFL level.
I haven't heard anything new about Gordon lately. He's still facing a suspension at some point I would think..

Michel's injury history scares me. But I don't want them to waste resources on RB, just get some solid extra guys.
Can't count on Gordon, of course. D Thomas might be nice as a complimentary piece. The thing is it's all about who Brady gels with, so we will see.
If Hogan is playing well in Carolina, that will be fun to watch. I usually tune out of Panthers games. I can't stand Cam after he didn't dive for the football in the SB.
I don't think any free agent RB that they sign at this point is going to cost much (or any other FA for that matter.) ASJ only signed a one year deal with a total of 50K guaranteed IIRC. I'd rather see them load up at RB if they're going into the season with a lack of proven NFL WRs.
With Hogan I think it was more that Brady lost trust in him more than anything else. He went from the #4 WR in 2017 to the #1 WR to start the 2018 season with Edelman suspended and Cooks & Amendola playing elsewhere and he's obviously not a #1 guy.
You are right about the lack of trust. Hogan still came up big a few times last year for sure.
Loading up at RB is fine with me. I am worried about the receivers, but we all know that patience is the key. I have faith.
I think we heard the same complaint all last season about the Pats WRs. Seemed to work out just fine. If Brady is still an elite QB next year he will be able to elevate an average WR corps. If he is not then the Pats will struggle.
Always possible BB pulls a rabbit out of a hat with a trade but those are impossible to predict.

@fergie23 dude you crack me up,my only reference today about the "lack of WR depth" was in regards to signing a certain pass catching running back and overloading that position for depth in case of injuries and you come in here acting like I'm complaining about Belichick not adding WRs. I brought up Chris Hogan because it was reported this morning that he signed with the Panthers.
I’m the one who was sorta complaining about BB not signing any WR’s, yea I know it worked out just fine last year but Gronk is gone now and that’s a big hit. Either way I’m not totally stressed about it I’m really more curious what BB’s plan is more than anything.
Russell Wilson just got paid: 4years, $140M total, $65M signing bonus, $107M total guaranteed and a no-trade clause.
This deal gave him the highest average paid contract, most total guarantees, and biggest signing bonus in NFL history.
Look at that,Bill Belichick thought the team needed another WR just a few days after we were talking about the team needing WRs. Its funny how that worked out
I like the pickup but I hope he's here longer than Decker was.
Thomas got 6M for one season which is more than I thought the team would pay,that's probably a good sign that he'll be here for the year;
I'd like to see them sign or trade for another WR with decent nfl experience on top of any they might draft. Chances are the kid(s) drafted might take awhile to learn this system. I'm also still all in on Yeldon if they can make that work. Patrick Chung just signed an extension that was suppose to free up a little cap space too.
