Thomas is coming off a pretty significant injury but should be good to go, they like that Berrios kid who was on the IR last year but I’m sure he was spending most of that time studying while nursing whatever injury he had. Don’t get me wrong I’d be fine with Yeldon, I just didn’t put him as a priority. We could potentially get Gordon back at some point, Edelman, Thomas and Gordon sounds pretty good in my opinion. ASJ at TE too. Definitely glad Chung is going to be around, I love his physical play

I was just looking at their RB depth and they don't have that bigger back that Jeremy Hill was supposed to be before getting hurt. I like Yeldon's catching abilities but I think if they do add a RB its probably gonna be a that Hill-type 3rd & short guy.
If they can get that foursome you mention together healthy I'd love to see how they look on the field together, even add White out of the backfield.
Pats fans talk about their WRs every year, because they never seem to have the talent at WR that you would expect. BB will put together another group of misfits and if Brady is still elite they will win with them. IMO Thomas is no different than past signings of Ocho Cinco or Reggie Wayne. I am curious how much of that $6 million is guaranteed. We have seen that past performance doesn't mean diddly squat for new receivers in the Pats system.
I am hoping they make some sort of trade for a WR that can get separation from man to man press coverage. No idea who that would be but at some point Brady will need WRs other than Edelman that can actually get open against man to man coverage.
Robb, some of us Pats fans here like talking about the team whether its week six during the season or the middle of the offseason when the only current news is about a former WR leaving or newly signed WR coming in. We're fans this is what we do,just because you choose to lurk and only comment when you think someone is trying to slight your boy BB is never going to change that.
And I honestly find it hysterically ironic that you like to keep pointing out us mentioning the WRs yet every single time you come in here to call us out on it you always have to take some sort of veiled shot at Brady still being elite. You're doing the same thing except with a different position.
Brady's eliteness isn't going to just turn some random WR into the next Moss or Edelman. For every one WR that came here and excelled there were at least 20 that didn't. We've only seen two drafted WRs come in and have an impact that same season,Deion Branch & Malcolm Mitchell. We've only seen this team actually develop two WRs in BB's time as HC, David Givens & Julian Edelman.
Not counting the Dorsett re-signing we've seen Harris,Ellington & Thomas added to the WR depth chart. Would it surprise anyone to see BB cut all three of those guys at some point by the time the season starts? It wouldn't for me. We all know by then there will be enough "bodies" at the position but that doesn't mean we can't talk about it or point out their faults if NE loses a game where the WRs played like crap.

The problem with getting a big name WR in NE is Big Bill HAS to low ball these guys and get as much value out of anyone he brings in, this applies to pretty much any free agent he tries to reel in. His favorite theme is to get a former first rounder who flames out because the potential value that comes with that type of player.
I think BB will have a tough time trying to trade for big name wideout,in most cases teams probably don't want to give the Pats a player that will make them considerably better. He'll probably look for someone heading into their final year or two of their deal where most of the guaranteed salary has already been paid.
These are the best of the current FA WRs available:
Kelvin Benjamin
Dez Bryant
Michael Crabtree
Michael Floyd
Pierre Garcon
Justin Hunter
Dontrelle Inman
Jermaine Kearse
Rishard Matthews
Aldrick Robinson
De'Anthony Thomas
Deonte Thompson
Mike Wallace
Depending on the price, I wouldn't mind seeing NE sign one out of Benjamin,Crabtree,Garcon,Kearse or Matthews.
I do think they really need to draft preferably two WRs just for the fact that we might be having this same conversation a year from now with Edelman,Dorsett & Thomas all hitting free agency at the same time. They need bodies for this season but they also don't have much youth there outside of Braxton Berrios who was on the practice squad last season.

I thought Bryant was still signed by NO? Either way that out of that list I’d love to see him or Crabtree in NE the rest I couldn’t care less about, I’d rather them draft a few and see how that goes. And I 100% agree with your thoughts on getting trade offers with big names attached since nobody wants NE to succeed AGAIN 😙
I'd take Bryant too,I just assumed he's probably still rehabbing his achilles injury. I think he signed with NO for just last season. They definitely need to double dip in the draft at this position. I mentioned Edelman,Dorsett & Thomas all signed for this one season but Bruce Ellington & Maurice Harris are too.
Ellington is a wild card, he potentially could be an interesting Slot guy. He is a small framed guy with speed, he had some flashes in Houston if I remember correctly but was nothing consistent. I am a bigger Brady fan than BB fan. I just happen to believe that when Brady's skills inevitably decline he won't get any help from his WRs to offset that decline due to how BB treats WRs. I would also like to see them sign Crabtree. I thought he was going to be a terrific WR in the NFL coming out of college. He had the strongest hands I could remember for a college WR and did an amazing job of catching with his hands as opposed to his body. For whatever reason it never translated at the NFL level. I think his effective catch radius ended up being too small.
After winning the 2017 MVP at 40 years old you gotta think its going to be all downhill going forward statwise for him. I think we already saw some decline from Brady last season and we'll probably see a little more of a drop in 2019 but I doubt we ever see him completely drop off like Peyton did that last season. He spends too much time off the field doing everything possible to keep his body at peak performance on gameday.
Since this is basically a Patriots thread, what's the deal with the Chiefs having to play
the Pats three years in a row AT NEW ENGLAND.
Is that really a fair way to schedule the games? And I noticed no other AFC west
teams have to play New England at all, let alone an away game with them.
Just getting tired of the Chiefs always seeming to get one of the toughest schedules of anyone.

2017 was because AFC east played AFC west that year. Last two years are because they were both first place finishers.

Lol this wasn't meant to be just a Pats thread but no one other than Pats fans have been commenting in it.
I agree its not fair as far as the Chiefs coming to NE again but I can say the reason why no other AFCW teams play the Pats is because KC & NE were the top 2 seeds meaning the'd have to face each other because the top teams in each conference have to face a similar team record-wise as part of the schedule. For years its mostly been Peyton Manning's Colts/Broncos or the Steelers that NE had to face because they were always a top 2 seed.
In KC case,if they continue to be a top 2 contender in their conference they will have a tough schedule every year. Teams that get that 1st overall seed get 5 division winners on their schedule the following season.
Darin I will help you out. So what’s the latest on child abuser Tyreek Hill? The Chiefs apparently are OK with him hurting his kid but are not ok with a 22 year old getting into a drunken scuffle with a group of people?
@Darin said:
Thanks for the explanation guys. I didn't realize the top two seeds had to play each other.
Still would like to have it in KC.
I hear ya,the Pats & Broncos played every season from 2011 to 2017 and there was one stretch from January 2014 to November 2017 where NE played 5 out of 6 games in Denver. Two of those were AFC championship games but it still had some Pats fans wondering why NE was scheduled to play away so much.
If that question was for me I honestly don't follow college football. I wanted one of the Iowa TEs because they're considered two of the best pass catching TEs in the draft and Isabella because he's one of the few players that I've heard about playing at Umass. If Sternberger is a guy that can catch the ball then I'm all in. NFLN has him ranked 6th in their ratings for that position. https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/TE?college=allColleges&page=1&status=ALL
Clark, who had yet to sign the $17.128 million franchise tag given to him by the Seahawks, has agreed to a five-year, $105.5 million deal that includes $63.5 million guaranteed, sources told Schefter. The Chiefs parted with their first-round draft choice, which is 29th overall, and the teams will exchange third-round picks, sources told ESPN. The Chiefs also will send the lower of their two 2020 second-round draft picks to the Seahawks, sources told ESPN.

It will be fun as always seeing how the draft shakes out. I believe the Pats need impact pass catchers, and I will be disappointed if they don't double dip in this area- whether WR or TE I don't care.

There was a WEEI report out that Philly might be looking to move WR Nelson Agholor during the next few days,I'd love to see BB make that deal happen. I think the biggest obstacle to making that deal happen is he's owed 9.4M guaranteed from his 2019 fifth year option that was picked up.
WEEI was also reporting that the Pats really like Fant and he might be the guy they move up for.
So Arizona trades a 1st,3rd & 5th to move up in the 2018 draft to grab Josh Rosen then a year later draft Kyler Murray 1st overall. That was an epic waste of picks a year ago and I doubt Arizona gets a 1st for Rosen now.

Daniel Jones was mocked quite a bit to the Pats with either their #32 pick or one of their two 2nd rounders. Seemed like a major reach but if that's the guy the Giants like good for them,i guess.
NE drafted N'Keal Harry from Arizona State. Looks to be a big wideout, I like the pick. Irv Smith or Sternberger tomorrow night would be great. Maybe even grab Isabella too.

This is a great pick for us. Belichick is letting us know that he is all in for this year. He's never taken a 1st round receiver.
Next Pats player looks like he'll have the prettiest hair in football. Michigan LB Chase Winovich, all reports are he's a really good linebacker. Plays DE/OLB and has played TE,compared to Mike Vrabel.
BB still has two more picks coming up soon.
Then Alabama RB Damien Harris,a big guy who never fumbles and can catch the ball. About 8 spots away from Pats last pick tonight.
Last pick was West Virginia Tackle Yodny Cajuste. All this trading up and down leaves them with three 4ths & four 7ths for tomorrow and an additional 2020 4th.
Another offensive lineman,Guard Hjalte Froholdt from Arkansas. I think Belichick is just trolling us all now by drafting the oddest first names in the draft...N'Keal, JoeJuan, Yodny, Hjalte.
I love what the Bills have done this off season. Total revamp of the OL. Ed Oliver in the middle of the DL. Huge tackle, a steal in the 2nd round. I don't Vegas says, the Bills will win more than 6 games and I've got my futures wager set. Vegas picks them behind the Jets. If Josh Allen is the real deal this offense is going to be explosive. 2 new wide out in FA, Beasley and Brown. All the dead money contracts booted. This is a completely new offense. maybe one OL from last year and a few WR's, Shady and a new group of RB's. I see 9-10 wins, maybe 12 and AFC East champions!!! (Well maybe not but we can wish)

Thanks for the explanation guys. I didn't realize the top two seeds had to play each other.
Still would like to have it in KC.
Darin I will help you out. So what’s the latest on child abuser Tyreek Hill? The Chiefs apparently are OK with him hurting his kid but are not ok with a 22 year old getting into a drunken scuffle with a group of people?
I would think a Chiefs fan would be excited to play in Foxborough this year.

Is there any chance of, and would you be happy if, the Pats take TE Jace Sternberger?
If that question was for me I honestly don't follow college football. I wanted one of the Iowa TEs because they're considered two of the best pass catching TEs in the draft and Isabella because he's one of the few players that I've heard about playing at Umass. If Sternberger is a guy that can catch the ball then I'm all in. NFLN has him ranked 6th in their ratings for that position. https://www.nfl.com/draft/tracker/prospects/TE?college=allColleges&page=1&status=ALL

I think their biggest needs are TE,WR,OT & DT and wouldn't be surprised if BB double dips on any of those positions.

@Darin in case you haven't heard about this yet KC just traded for Seahawks DE Frank Clark then gave him a monster deal:
http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26587040/sources-clark-dealt-chiefs-1055m-deal

Happy with DT Williams at #3.

Williams & Williams won't be fun to run on.
edit: forgot you added Mosley too.

Josh Rosen about to be traded to the Dolphins for a 2nd plus likely another pick.

That stinks, I was hoping the Pats would trade for Rosen, he could mature behind Brady for a couple of seasons I was thinking
The Pats trade up for CB JoeJuan Williams from Vanderbilt. He's 6-4 and his size was compared to Brandon Browner.
NE must have really liked this guy giving up a 2nd(56) & a 3rd(101)

I love the Damien Harris pick

"I spent 50% of my money on alcohol, women, and gambling. The other half I wasted.
The only problems I see is Tom Brady and the Patriots 😜
Only for the last 19 years.
