Picked this one up a few (7-8) years back for $100 used,
Measures 20"w x 16" tall x 10 1/2" deep. Bottom 2 drawers are 2 1/4" deep and have the ability to hold up to 84 slabs in each drawer. Founded 1906 H. Gerstner & Sons, Dayton Ohio. These folks make some nice affordable cabinets. Sorry about exposing some of the dreck.
@Zippcity that's the type of box I've seen at the local flea market. I've seen them in wood and metal but the repurposing idea didn't click until now. I'm on a mission. That large chest is awesome too. Peace Roy

garage ans do just that with it.....
Thanks for the idea
@zippcity .... I have one just like that... used for my firearms tools and accessories. Never thought to convert to coin storage.... Oh well, would have to get another, since this one is actively purposed and used. Cheers, RickO

Have any of you ever heard of someone painstakingly making their own coin box?

A few years ago one of the forum members "repurposed" a dresser. This member
was/is an aspiring actor. Over the course of a few months he produced a BEAUTIFUL
cabinet. He really did an excellent job, not like the hacks on some of the DIY shows.
Hopefully someone can Google it and add it to the thread here. He does collect historical
medals. You really have to see it.
That’s the same type of wooden tool chest that my dad used to have. Many a project that we worked on together involved tools from that cabinet. I loved the felt lined drawers. A very fine repurposing!
Over the years, several members have made coin cabinets... the one noted above was a major project and was certainly beautiful when finished. There used to be different types available on ebay as well. Cheers, RickO
Who could forget @Bodin with Buffy (as in the Vampire Slayer) in the Super Bowl.

No recent photos to share, but I picked this up at an estate sale about 5-6 years ago and use it now to keep my "loose stuff" in.

I need one of these so, so bad...
I wonder if a modern one was built would coins suffer from moisture issues, glue, etc...
