I knew a forest service warden for a while. He had a pickup with a hoist for putting elk, deer, bear, etc into the back (poachers, etc). Maybe that's an idea?

The idea is to get CHD into poaching? :o:D

But seriously, this story is still an open wound until we hear that those safes are secured.

The idea was to befriend a Forest Service employee with a hoist on his truck that would help a man in need.

I have an idea, buddy! I'll head over to the airport in town and steal one of those little Cessnas, first I have to figure out which one is actually a Cessna and then learn how to fly it. Then I'll swoop down and you can parachute out of my plane and onto your property, assuming I haven't crashed the plane into something else by then. I'm sure I'll get the hang of it. That way you don't have to walk over any of that nasty weed killer.

In all seriousness, I sure hope you get to go back soon. What a joke.

    Hey Joe,

First off, like I said in a much earlier psot, I'm glad you are safe with your family and pets.
I'm hoping your safe is fine (not waterlogged insides) when you get to it. Sounds like it would be too heavy for many looters to try to waste time on and likely not easy to "crack". So, hoping it's all ok when you are allowed to get to it.

Question I have, if you hear/see about it:
How did the banks/safe deposit boxes fair? We always here on here to get SDBs for our collections and safety, and there is a lot of truth to that, but I'm wondering how they may have faired in the fire.

    Take care

I wonder how many people and crews are going to walk my property poking around before I get to? How many of these people and crews are bonded? These are the questions I have bouncing around in my head. Still no word when I will be allowed to go back up there? I’m on some list that nobody has access to. What a mess! This is the most stressful ordeal I’ve ever had to deal with. You dial this “Escort” phone number that’s forever busy. Then when it does ring it’s rings for such a long time you get cut off and have to call all over and over again. Today I spent 1 hour on my cell phone trying and failing to get through. It’s hopeless.
Thank you to all for the well wishes and sometimes humerous ideas on how to get up there.

They may be searching for human parts, DNA etc. not personal property. Think human lives & the relatives of the missing.

I’m more than sure the crews looking for bodies have long passed my part of town. What you’re seeing now are hazmat teams poking around. The last time I checked hazmat workers are not bonded. So you can just imagine what’s going through my mind.
It’s been a month now with heavy rains. We would just love to be able to search my property ASAP. I will sign a waiver for the hazardous material. It’s stupid that they will not allow that. If you can try to put yourself in my shoes and think about it and how much stress that would put on you and yours. It will also help bring closure to this mess and allow some folks to move on with their lives. This is unbearable for us and it shouldn’t have to take this long.
Of course this is just my opinion.
Thank you to all for caring.
It means so much to us.

    Hey there,
Not believing in SDB’s I have never used any. With that being said I will keep my ears open to how articles may have faired from other folks in town.
Thank you for your well wishes on my safe and collection. I worry about it everyday that passes. Every day that passes is another day the odds this deal with my collection is not going to turn out well.
    Thanks again

Have you received all the money we donated????

I would like you all to know we have finally located a house and we moved in today. It took intensive labor searching for weeks and then a friend of a friend called and told us about this one. Long story short we are finally out of the hotel hopping with all the entire family with the exception of my daughter and her family. His work keeps him from living way out in the boonies where we are now, the commute. They found a place closer than this to stay. If you know where Collins lake is then that’s pretty close to where we are now. It’s about an hour to Paradise from here and a half an hour to the nearest town, Oroville/Marysville. One town is two miles closer than the other.
I can not tell you how relieved we are to have finally located a place to spread out.

A huge thank you to all and to this forum for the well wishes and the heartfelt prayers.

    Yes sir,
We have found a nice place that we leased for one year. It’s out in the boonies and it’s beautiful here but the location is not the greatest as it’s at least a half an hour from anywhere and an hour away from ground zero. BUT! I am not complaining as it’s a place we can finally get away from it all and set our minds free as how we want to rebuild our lives.
    Thank you for asking, Joe

I live in California and this is so tragic, but unfortunately for many of us who live here, we see this kind of devastation far too often from the Oakland Hills firestorm of 1991 and Laguna Beach fire of 1993 to the Santa Rosa fire of 2017. Countless homes burned down to the foundation.

Glad to hear people are getting back on their feet.
