And from late yesterday afternoon the skies were alive with the sound of F-22 Fighter Jets. Pictured is one dropping straight down and then chasing into the sun on the horizon.
Mount Spur is among the stratovolanos in the Aleutian Arc as seen 80 miles distant from where I stood taking the below posted photos. Today's unusual weather conditions allowed for these somewhat magnified views of the pictured mountains in the Aleutian Arc, including Mount Spur an active volcano.
Mount Spur can be identified as the tallest pictured as it is the tallest volcano within the Aleutian Arc at a height of 11,070 feet above sea level. It has erupted twice in my lifetime sufficient to deposit over 3 mm of ash where I was 80 some miles away each time. (In 1953 as much as 6 mm fell and in 1992 3mm.)
Today, Friday, was also a great day to capture photos of both Denali (formerly Mount McKinley) and Mount Susitna (a/k/a Sleeping Lady) from the same vantage point that allowed for the above posted photos of the mountains within the Aleutian Arc to include the active volcano Mount Spur:
Finally, from today here are a few photos to share as taken this Friday afternoon while also looking down "to smell the flowers" in addition to having taken the photos to post above which looked outward to the distant mountains.

Actually looks like I also caught one of the USAF F-22s in flight in the initial photo as well.
Chances are good that as I photographed them this past week these, if not two of the other 18 F-22 Jets based here, were the F-22 Jets subject of the below referenced encounter from this past week.
"Two American F-22 fighters intercepted three groups of Russian Tupelev jets as they entered the Alaskan Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) late Thursday night.
The Russian planes were in the (ADIZ) for around 5 hours and came within 50 nautical miles of Alaskan shores, according to a NORAD press release."

I waited and waited.
Since nobody's gonna address the elephant (?) in the room, I can't let this one go.

Fresh whole halibut is on sale here where I am at for a little over $10 a pound. That is well over $2,000 worth of fish right there.

Other side of the lake in southwest Michigan. This isn’t Lake Michigan in the picture though, it is an inland lake that I live on.
