I laughed at this, but from doing underground utilities work before, I’m seeing the culvert below the drain supporting the inlet and the rest of the area settling over time from poor compaction, soil type, vehicle compression, water and time. Those brick pavers don’t keep out much water or dry out very good. Then, when it gets this point the problem is compounded.
Gas shortage was in those years. Cars changed and gas went from the teens to 40 or 50 cents per gallon. I remember everyone thinking the world was coming to end! Everyone started putting on locking gas caps and if you had dual tanks you had 4 keys.
BTW those keys look like keys to my 1980 Chevy pickup.

Yeah, and you could get 3 cent's on dollar for every bottle you picked up on side of road at your local store. Used to do a lot of walking in those days!
I remember in 1985 Coca Cola said they would no longer make Coke Original. At that time I was drinking like 3 cans a day. I went out and bought 22 cases of it.
Since it is still Friday (at least in my time zone) here are some added submissions from recent travels to Japan related to a visit to a Japanese Onsen (Hot Springs.)

FWIW, after posting the above, I just sent these photos to friends and family with the following invitation:
You are invited to spend a weekend in Japan
"Since so many things are being made virtually available, here is one more.
You are invited to join with us for a virtual weekend stay at an Onsen (Hot Springs) in Japan.
On the menu is your choice of assorted sashimi or roasted crab.
Enjoy soaking in the mineral hot spring waters followed by a night's rest on futons spread over a tatami mat floor."
Because of these pictures that you posted 1northcoin, I ended up going and watched this movie on netflix. It was a pretty good movie, thank you for posting pictures of it and the others or I probably would never had seen this movie, I liked it a lot. Thank you for posting all of these nice pictures that you post, I enjoy looking at them.
30+ mile ride was overly optimistic on my part. More like 25 miles. The return trip from the north entrance to the trail saw me dragging the last 3-4 miles. Slowly recovering from the ride and no doubt I will sleep well tonight.

I remember that also. I saved 1-2 six packs of it but ended up drinking them eventually when they claimed they were making the "original" coke formula again due to customer complaints about their "new" formula.
I had saved one of the original empty cans though and noticed that it had sugar listed as an ingredient but their "new coke" cans listed "high fructose corn syrup" as their sweetener.

View from my deck last night - heard a loud explosion and went outside to see what was up. Smoke filled the sky above my back field and bright orange sky in the distance. Photo my wife shot with iPhone didn't really capture the scale of it. I took a drive up to see what was up but police had the road blocked and was turned back.
Took a bike ride today to get a look. Gas explosion but luckily no one was home at the time.

Having just seen the Drew Barrymore/John Krasinski movie "Big Miracle" here are a few making the movie photos that may be of added interest.
First, a closer up shot of the actors on The Ice Field Set as viewed from my office balcony during the filming:
Launching of the whaling boat into the lake down the street from my house in preparation for the ocean whaling scene that opens the film:
The actors gathering on the lakefront for the whaling boat scene:
The whaling boat crew head out to their boat:
Boarding the whaling boat:
Drew Barrymore (White Parka, orange life vest) comes out to meet for the first time the child actor aboard the whaling boat:
The fog machine doing its job to hide the trees surrounding the lake before the cameras begin to roll:
Cameras roll as the Whaling Captain navigates his boat toward the yet to be CGI added whale in the lake up the street from my house which is substituting for the arctic sea waters north of Point Barrow.
A daytime scene on the Ice Field being filmed at one of the holes being kept open for the whales to breathe:
Snowmachines gather for a scene on the Ice Field Set.
Drew Barrymore walks alone as she takes in the reality that the baby whale "Bam Bam" is no longer surfacing:
Night filming of the animatronic whale on the Ice Field Set:
Ice Field Set filming with Drew Barrymore evident in her blue parka. John Krasinski and Kristin Bell appear to be the two actors on the far right in this early filmed scene while a building on the set was still under construction.
The actors gather in one of the closing scenes as they peer out toward the Russian Ice Breaker headed toward them to break the ice wall barrier. Again, Drew is easily identifiable in her blue parka and John Krasinski is positioned with her:
As this scene was being filmed one could hear the cast yelling from blocks away. They are cheering the freeing of the whales!
The earlier construction of the Ice Field Set including placement of the animatronic whales in water tight compartments over which the holes in the ice would be positioned:
And months later with ithe the film a wrap, Dismantling the Ice Field Set including removal of the animatronic whales:
I have a cousin that bought a VHS player when they first came out for $1000. He spent every nickel he made. Now at 71 years old he is still having to work and still does not have two nickels to rub together.
