the Celtics/Ainge have shrewdly captured some of the best talent coming into the NBA for the past few years, they shouldn't use any of that for anything or anybody. I thought the Celtics as a whole showed poise and unity. barring anything unforeseen they should have a good run. they don't need Kawhi or anyone else.
It just doesn't make any sense trading for him at this point. They already have two All-Stars coming off major injuries and Kawhi would make it three, Then if Kyrie & Kawhi both agree to max deals next offseason it would bring Boston's max contracts number to four, they would then be into the luxury tax just on those four contracts alone. Then add in Kawhi quitting on his teammates this past season then days ago making it public he wants to go play in LA without telling the Spurs this first.
In all likelihood it would cost the Celtics Jaylen Brown,Terry Rozier, the Kings 2019 1st and probably a few lesser players/picks to match the salaries. That Kings pick is going to land Boston a player on the Tatum/Brown level if they use it,Rozier could be insurance in case Kyrie decides to leave next offseason and Brown is turning into the 2nd coming of Paul George.
All Ainge has to do this offseason is find a way to bring back Smart,Baynes & Larkin then let this team have another training camp to gel. Then next offseason give Kyrie his max along with potentially having four first round picks to add to this team,
Its being reported that Lebron would prefer to stay in Cleveland and is looking for reasons to stay. There's also a report out that Cleveland is looking to move that 8th pick for veterans that could help Lebron next year. Kawhi is one name, unlikely though, the other is Kemba Walker who would be a great replacement for Kyrie. A Cavs trade probably happens by thursday's draft if this is the way they go.
If LeBron wants to someday be an owner (partial or full) of an NBA franchise he should use the opportunity he has to go to another team this off season as the starting point of a discussion with Cleveland's management/ownership about:
staying in Cleveland for the rest of his career;
in return for future consideration that would position LeBron to "join the club" of NBA owners (i.e a right of first refusal to purchase an interest in the Cavs, or better yet an option to purchase the Cavs).
I do not know if the above it possible, but if it is, the King should consider it.
Its finally Draft day, I'm hoping Boston finds a way to trade up for Texas center Mo Bamba. If they stay at 27 i'm hoping Villanova's Donte Divincenzo is available when they pick.
Well Cleveland gets an athletic PG Colin Sexton and the Celtics get a shot blocking rebounder in PF/C Robert Williams. Boston needed a big man with Aron Baynes hitting free agency.

Ya do need Cliff Notes with this guy.
I liked it when the Sixers many years ago persued Dr J and signed him. But Dr J has more class in his pinky finger than LeBron James has in his entire body.
James would sometimes be a tough guy to root for with his silly antics.
In any event, it looks as though the Lakers are now favored to sign him, so good, i don't need to worry about it.
i read an article earlier that Lebron is calling around to other players in the league and gauging their interest in teaming up probably for the Lakers. He's got Paul George,Chris Paul,DeMarcus Cousins,Dwayne Wade and a likely trade for Kawhi to choose from. By this time next week we should have an idea of their being a new superteam in LA or Philly.

Dimeman said --- I just don't care for his attitude. What if every good player wanted to move around until they got on a team where they could get a ring
Lebron James isn't the only player to do that. how do you feel about Kevin Durant??? if you compare James and Durant by looking at the first time Lebron moved and when Durant went to Golden State it is laughable, there is no comparison. Lebron left a Team that had NOTHING, Durant left a Team that had just pushed the then reigning Champion to a 3-1 deficit. I have always seen his move as a serious sign of weakness and surrender. the OKC Team that Durant left was pretty good.
as for Lebron's second move, that was to another Team that really had done nothing and he wanted to go back home. can you really find fault with a player who wants to play for his hometown Team?? for most every professional athlete that is a dream. again, looking at the two players, Lebron has moved and helped build a Team that could play for Championships two times, much like he's trying to do now. Kevin Durant left a contender for the Western Conference Championship to play on an established Team that had been in two consecutive NBA Finals.

Well Durant is soft so it makes sense. He can't be the top guy on a team that wins the championship , he would go invisible if that much was riding on him.
Frankly I do not understand the whole Lakers thing. If I'm a player , I want to win , I want to get paid , why would I single out a team that isn't winning at the moment and demand or suggest that I go there?

Looks like Lebron's buddy Paul decided to not go to LA after all. its pretty telling that Paul George had two chances to team up with Lebron the past two offseasons with two different teams and he turned him down twice. Steve, I have lived in Cleveland and the Cleveland area my entire life. right now, there isn't a local resident who is a Cavs fan that I know or have spoken to who wants him to leave. almost to a person everyone was really PO'd when he left, mostly because of how it was done --- and --- absolutely no Cavs fan was anything but elated when he returned. that's just the way it is.
what is happening now bears no real resemblance to what went on when he left for Miami. Lebron really hasn't said much or done much, most of what is reported is innuendo and, for lack of a better word, gossip. Lebron has done what he has been able to do at the time he was able to do it, but sports writers and fans need something to talk about. right now he is in LA and they want to say he's there to sign with the Lakers, but he lives there in the summer and a number of other NBA players are there in the summer, also.
he is simply "doing his due diligence" while making a considered decision. everyone, including us here at this forum, are simply intrigued by it. sadly, a lot of the intrigue is due to the media telling us we need to be. I really don't obsess over it. I see it when I'm alerted to a response here or a check sports scores. whatever happens will happen. I'll be a Lebron James fan wherever he plays. I'll watch the Cavs, whoever is on the Team.

ok,now Magic needs to do some magic and start adding better players around him or LABron will do nothing more than sell tickets. IMO the Lakers are a 4th or 5th seed at best right now but there is still time to get better.
The Lakers just signed Kentavious Caldwell-Pope to a one year deal using a large chunk of their cap space,12M. That second star will probably have to come by trade now.
I would love to see the Lakers / Celtics rivalry come back to the forefront. Being a diehard Celtics fan from the 50s until the Cavs drafted LeBron I am not sure who I would end up rooting for.

He goes to a team that is already good enough to win and they win. He's sackless , put him on cleveland in the spot LeBron was in this year and he turtles and they are out in the first round.

right now it's baseball season.
Of course Cavs fans didn't want James to leave, but the fact is that James was a carpetbagger once, and now he's a carpetbagger twice.
It was understandable a bit the first time, no sense rehashing all of that. However this time there is no excuse for it other than his own insatiable ego.
An important thing in life a person should never do is screw their friends, and James just screwed an entire city of friends in Cleveland.
If anyone finds themselves out in LA I’d like to take them to a game. I was excited to get my home boy Moe Wagner in the draft and now even more ready to go to more games. I usually root against the Lakers but maybe that will change

Perhaps when movie star LeBron begins his acting career on the big screen out in Hollywood, in another remake of Batman, he can play one of the villains.
I got a bit of a laugh listening to ESPN radio last night discussing the LBJ news. The host was interviewing callers and other sportscasters asking them "Where were you when you heard the news of the signing?" Kind of reminded me of the old question"Where were you when JFK was shot?" Such drama on the news of a contract inking.

I'll watch the Cavs, whoever is on the Team.
right now it's baseball season.
Lebron just signed with LA for 4 years. It was also reported the Lakers were talking with Cousins overnight and Aaron Gordon today.

ok,now Magic needs to do some magic and start adding better players around him or LABron will do nothing more than sell tickets. IMO the Lakers are a 4th or 5th seed at best right now but there is still time to get better.

Lavar told us all a couple weeks back. Plus, he said his son will make James better.
This moron missed the first media call last week and now a flight to his first practice.,he better get comfortable at the end of the bench till he's out of Brad Stevens doghouse.

Ralph
He goes to a team that is already good enough to win and they win. He's sackless , put him on cleveland in the spot LeBron was in this year and he turtles and they are out in the first round.
