Re: Will Heritage, Goldberg, Superior and B&M eat eBay's lunch?
Gotta remember...the coin business on ebay is a trivial portion of their overall business....all the big-fish-small-bowl coin companies pale in comparison. That said, there are some great coins to be had on ebay. I've bought/sold many. What amazes me is offering a high end coin on ebay (like the 1894/94 MS65R PCGS I have… -
Re: Anyone familiar with this seller (has current auctions going)?
67Standup, Man, I hope this works out for you, $1700+ on the line is no small amount. Now the one thing I have noticed is that shipping large heavy items out of Canada is extremely slow. I would imagine that 2 complete OPC sets would fit that bill. It took 9 weeks to get a 1990 OPC set that I won last November. Small… -
Re: my trade list
Soon I'll have a 1998 Press Pass Vince AU and a 99-00 Black Diamond Final Cut of Vince as well. Here's what's in my possession currently: 98-99 Stadium Club Never Compromise Vince Carter 97-98 Stadium Club First Day Issue Jason Kidd 94-95 Collector's Choice Gold Signature Jason Kidd (blueprints) 97-98 Topps OPC Tracy… -
Re: Question for Downgoesfrazier
Thanks Magellen and CADILLACN97, Looks like Ryan and Rose are fairly strong and the others are all over the map. Still not bad prices if you can get the cards graded for $5 during a special. Those were definitely nice looking PSA 8's in the Dawson and Murphy. I would have thought the Dawson would have been closer to the… -
Re: 1884,1885,1886 V Nickels, buy the proofs or MS??
I'd collect MS, but don't get stuck on demanding MS65- you can find lower grades that are close to the 65 look , but much lower priced for these "rarites". No big rush, they pop up at every major show and auction. The 12-s is another key date- maybe harder to find than the '85. The 94 and 96 a hard to locate in ms too.… -
Re: If you had one series to collect....
A "Series" to me is the entire series of Barber coins...Nickel, Dime, Quarter and Half Dollar. I have completed this series with the exception of the 94-S dime and the 01-S quarter. Grade of choice has always been AU 55-58. So, I guess the next logical thing to do would be to try and complete the series in MS 63-66. Edited… -
Re: Lowering the grading standards for rare and key date coins
I think you are on to something. I sent in two liberty caps 1794 and 1795 one was pretty worn the other was some where in the 30 range. The 1795 came back graded AG3 and I know this coin had some small problems all the same it graded. The 1794 came back in a genuine slab code 94. If you ask me the 1794 had less problems… -
Re: .
Fletch, What are you drinking tonight? About a week ago I found a couple of bottles of 94 Caymus in the bottom of my wine celllar that I had hidden from the ex. She took the other approximately 18 when she moved out. She was suprised as heck that I had it documented well enough to charge her for it in the divorce… -
Re: Tristar greatest pack chase
Pack chase isn't like the card chase, in that you're getting mostly unopened packs from Topps, Donruss, etc; instead of the picked-over commons put into last year's Tri-Star packs. Now, with that said, I bought two boxes just for F's sake and was totally non-plussed. The BEST packs I got were an 86 Topps pack and a 90… -
Re: some monthly silver observations
I could probably come up with some more meaningful observations about the charts, these were just some of the most obvious. I would say though that there is some apparent trends going on with December like how it contains so many of the yearly lows, and just within the last few years it started to frequently have the…
