Re: Conserve or no conserve
I don't think that's a milk spot, but I also don't think it's coming off. That said, it might be slightly improvable, and much of the other stuff in the field might also be, too. Since the offending spot isn't coming off, however, you're not getting an upgrade after conservation. I'd probably leave it alone and see if a… -
Re: A Major Refiner/Wholesaler Temporarily Pausing the Purchase of Alloyed Silver (.925, 90%, 40%, etc.)
why wait for a long term single profit? Bullion banks (spot price market makers, JPM et. all) make a whole lot more profit when they let it go up via "natural forces" (supply and demand), sell and collect this week's profit, then knock it back down with their futures exchange (where spot price is determined) "trading"… -

Re: Worried about red/brown/toning spots on 2006 gold Buffalos
An acetone bath on ASE's when done upon receipt from the mint, will prevent milk spots. However, I have no idea about the spots on the gold Buffalo's.. from the description (and since they are .9999 gold), I would hazard a guess that it is residues remaining from either the striking process or post striking bath (if there… -

Probably, everyone has voted by now. But I'll just post my opinions which were based ONLY on the voter information supplied with the ballot, and a few strong opinions on my part. I don't know any of the candidates. Never talked to any of them with one exception: Kagin talked me into joining the ANA again a couple years ago… -

Re: Unopened 20th Anniversary Silver Eagles
<< <i>While the sealed sets look like they will keep going up in price for a while, I get antsy keeping them in the cardboard long term for fear of unseen milk-spotting. I would hate to sell a sealed box later only to find out the buyer decides to open it and the coin(s) have developed spotting, toning, etc. I feel much… -
Re: OK, I admit it, I am clueless on understanding coin grading!
PCGS "Guidelines for Eye Appeal" I think the above link is worth reading. Some exerpts: "Spots Spots on gold coins, spots on copper coins, and "milk spots" on silver coins are not really part of eye appeal, but they are part of the grade and grade deductions are made similar to those made for marks or hairlines. In all… -
