Always took candy from strangers Didn't wanna get me no trade Never want to be like papa Working for the boss every night and day --"Happy", by the Rolling Stones (1972)
Steve - Please elaborate. I don't quite understand how members would have more control. >>
Andy, Maybe I used a poor choice of words. What I meant was I believe that if Chet, Ed and Cliff are on the board of governors, then based on what I know about them and how I would expect them to act on key decisions affecting the membership such as bylaw changes, working with other board members, limiting the confidentiality agreement, etc. I believe these men will follow the expressed desires of the membership for openess and better communication. Probably, everyone has voted by now. But I'll just post my opinions which were based ONLY on the voter information supplied with the ballot, and a few strong opinions on my part.
I don't know any of the candidates. Never talked to any of them with one exception: Kagin talked me into joining the ANA again a couple years ago after a 2 year lapse...But I formed no real opinion of the man during that encounter.
My strong opinions: 1) I will NOT vote for incumbants. Even if they weren't part of the problem, they've at least proven they are not part of the solution. I haven't heard one word of real discent from any of them. 2) Anyone voicing support for better communication gets a thumbs up...if not a vote. 3) Anyone stating things need to change gets a thumbs up....if not a vote. 4) I have a soft spot for "old time" ANA members. Why, I don't know. 5) Rochette would get 3 votes if I had them. There's a guy I really think I trust...despite never meeting him. 6) Ostromecki, unfortunately, got knocked out in my mind by the whole debate over his ouster. He may have been unfairly labeled, but as I say, I don't know any of them, and he seemed like a risk.
Beyond those strong feelings, I went by their election statements. Below were my opinions as written on the election statement sheet: either YES, Mild YES, Mild NO, or NO.
Only 6 got outright YES from me...but I know I voted for seven. Don't recall the Mild YES that finally got my vote.
