Re: Silver--- reaching for $8 again!!
Regarding "Many experts believe that the central banks only own about half as much gold as they’ve reported" This is not true, at least as it regards US gold holdings of around 260 million ounces. While a few isolated individuals make this claim with respect to the US, virtually no one with expertise in US economics or… -
Re: reward for being honest
Its called the golden rule a little lesson my daddy taught me with his belt when I was about five years old and its stuck with me ever since. He was 6'5" went 260 and was a USMC non com officer and new how to leave a impression. Thanks for the compliments I would of given it back no matter who it was thats the guy my daddy… -
Re: The Ship has Docked !!!! (and it's Gold)
Thanks all. It really very prooflike and full of lustre in the fields. Amazing it can be 260 years old and be it such mint shape. Here is some additional pictures, not as good as I would like but they portray the coin a little more colorful than the Northeast shots, that are shot in bright lighting and depict the coin as… -
Re: Think these will grade? Geo. II 1746 Lima 1/2 crown, Geo. III 1780 three pence maundy
IMO the 2/6 will grade and that it is typical for this coin, a circulated 260 year old bit that may have seen two bouts of circulation when the toning pattern is examined. gF would prob. be the Brit grade but think it would go F15. The 3d is rather common and was a date that may that may have been "frozen" and minted past… -
Re: More discussion re. relative scarcity of Roman Imperial coins & how to map out a new set
I would not consider a set without the Gallic Emperors, while not proper Roman Emperors that was an interesting period and they did control a vast track of land for a long time. Postumus (c.260-269, usurper) [4][3] Victorinus (c.269-271, usurper) [3][N/A] Tetricus I (271-274, usurper) [3][N/A] Tetricus II (c.273-274,… -
Re: What to do with these?
<< <i>It's hard to tell from the pictures, but they look pretty nice. >> How could I improve those pictures to clarify the quality? I assume you're talking about the 520x1040 large versions (like the ones in my message) rather than the 130 x 260 thumbnails on the index page. I don't mind taking more photos to make clearer… -
Re: Update- BGS 8.5 comes back from PSA - "trimmed"
I would measure it through the case. I had a 1994 A-Rod Collector's choice Gold Signature BGS 8.5 (that I shelled out $260 for) that came back from PSA and GAI as trimmed. When I measured it through the case, it was clearly short (almost 1/16 too short). I sent some angry emails to beckett about it, but there wasn't… -

Re: I have $250.00 I want to spend on one coin....
I recently bought this for $260 because I thought it was pretty darn cool. It's 33mm, 26.12 grams, and struck in the year 122. It isn't the best sestertius but it sure makes for a fun coin to play with. As for future appreciation, I haven't really tracked prices on these (they're outside my collecting focus) but I was… -
