    I saw that the other day and about wet myself image. Perhaps the dealer is a board member?

    Thankfully I manged to find two raw $5 examples and a mis-priced $10 example recently image. Thank God for good vision and uninformed sellers image...

    Is that your opinion based on how many years you have being a very high level B&M Coin dealer with 40 years of experience who is universally respected and on the PCGS front page as a member of the board of experts. Because if you're not all of those things then I am here to tell you that you are not even close to qualified to make that assessment as the man who listed them. His methodology isn't the stupid thing here.

    He's also handled sales and coins that haven't been sold in decades publicly that would certainly bring the largest numbers ever recognized in auctions. Not for their type, but for any coin. One of the most pleasent people to deal with, informative, polite; and the first forum member I personally elected to seek out at a coin show.

    Aside from all of that, it's his, or anyone elses decision to list coins however they would like.

    It never helps market prices to know there is a large overhang of product for sale.

    I disagree with calling these "emergency issues". There was never any shortage of 1999 1/10th oz AGEs. There was high demand, but I don't recall ever reading about the Mint ever restricting or rationing sales to the Mint's distributors during 1999. Someone please correct me if they know otherwise.

    I do recall reading about proof dies that were mistakenly used for regular production, and that's how these were originally reported. I do recall Julian being one of the early pursuers of these coins, but that doesn't make them an "emergency issue". That's hype.

    These coins don't need hype. There are few enough of them and they are collectable enough in their own right, without the hype. I know I'll get lambasted for saying this, but if this was some "emergency", please provide the details other than speculation.

    It seems to me like a way to advertise the coins for potential sale off eBay. I translate the comment "Please note that I have added to & deleted from this lot since it was originally posted, as I continually buy and sell these and have updated the totals." to mean contact me if you want to buy 1 or 2 of these and of course it will be off eBay. I doubt he really expects to sell them as a single lot. Of course, I am just guessing and may be reading too much into it.

    Meh, since we're all talking about it and I'm still worked up about these right now after having cherried a several this past weekend, I'll make this offer:

    I'm willing and able to send $1250 via paypal for a pcgs 69 99W $10 age today. Yes that's a tad low, as a couple were sold in December on eBay for $1300ish, but it's a fair offer and I'm saving you the hassle of eBay and quite a bit in fees as well. These coins haven't budged in price for quite some time, and who knows if they'll ever take off, so if you're sitting on one let me know via PM please.

    He knows what he's doing. Inexpensive way to market this lot. ( about 10 cents per month )

    reason (which I'm not going to state).

    To answer a few questions:

    I have the coins listed individually, as well.

    I have sold 3 large groups previously. The last group that I sold were all 69's and I have built up the 69's listed since then.

    As for it being an emergency issue, I have outline my reasoning in the description. Some, including my friend and colleague, Fred Weinberg, disagree, but I still believe that my explanation has merit.

    I remember Dave Bowers marketing rolls of 1931-s nickels decades ago. He listed the total that he had and sold out. It doesn't really hurt for the totals to be known. These are not million dollar coins yet.

    I am happy to discuss this further, either on this thread or by PM.

    I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.
