We had a couple of beers last summer in Boise and I promised him a fishing trip this spring. I really though I was going to be able to make good on that promise.
hope he is enjoying a cold beer by a well-stocked lake... (who says heaven has to just be fluffy clouds)
Though I never really 'knew' him, as alot of others did, I enjoyed his posts. As a young newbie lurker, way back (yes, I did lurk that far back) when I was too scared to join and post, for fear of looking like someone that didn't belong....I recall that thread RYK mentioned. With my being younger than alot of members here, everytime I see something like this, it really gets me down, as it is just one more reminder we are ALL mortal..and collecting coins is just something we do to occupy some of the short time we have while we are on this very short ride called 'life', and that in the grand scheme of things, it really is a very minor part of most of our lives (those who are dealers, it's a bit different). But, what really gets to me seeing threads like this, the saying 'goodbyes', the realization that all we have left now are the good memories, well, it just bums me out with the thoughts that, one day, God forbid, it'll be the realization that I'll be reading/posting about one of the friends I have made here and chat with on a regular basis. I know these things can't be helped, that healthwise, life takes it's own course, and there's not a whole lot we can do about it.
My sincerest condolences to BigE's family.....I know I'll never be able to look at a Xmas tree in quite the same way again.
I remember the thread about the score he make on raw proof seated dollar from a Stack's auction. Many of us thought it was AT, but he got it into a PR66 holder if I recall correctly.
Eric is one of the few forum members I would consider a friend. We chatted by PM for years, then fell silent two years or so ago. He contacted me recently about some coins and we brought up old times when the forum was a tight knit community. He was a wheeler-dealer and had a passion for coins. He mentioned that he was ill. This saddens me and he will be missed.
Very saddened to hear this news. BigE was a long-time contributor here and really knew his stuff. I never had the pleasure of meeting him but as RYK said, you just knew he would be someone you would like.
My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I remember I once told BigE about a tree that took out the corner of my home. I sent him a picture of it. It hit the house at the corner, about eight feet from where my wife and I were sleeping.
He pm'd me "Gil, that Tree loved you."

I'm really sorry to hear this.. I remember when he purchased his 1862 Seated proof dollar that he bought at auction without seeing it in hand and he was pleased when it came back from NGC grading Proof 66 after much discussion on the boards as to how it would grade..I remember the time he lost his roof of his home in a storm.. he was always an up-beat guy and we surely will miss him around here..Rest In Peace Eric.. you will always be the ........................................BigE
Purchased a 10 oz bar of silver from him a few minths back. Sorry to hear this. He was easy going and made it easy to get to know him. RIP BigE. My condolences to his family and friends.

Wasn't it he who once posted his roof just blew off his house?

RIP BigE. Sometimes I wish I was a tree.
Rest In Peace BigE.
I just checked my PMs, and see the last post was almost 10 years ago. You were filling me in on a funny Teletrade situation.
Brother, I will miss you.
RIP,
