Got my packs today. I'm keeping two of my 1977 Football packs unopened and both of the 1978 Football Cellos which look awesome. Both were nice and tight.
The two 1977 packs I did open lacked star power outside of an OC Lyle Alzado. The commons were all sharp with centering varying from very good to OC. The '82 and '83 Baseball cellos I opened lacked big hits, but the '82s yielded some HOF'ers. The two 1984 Football cellos were very good to me though. Plenty of star power with Dorsett, Munoz, LT, Theismann, Lott and these guys:
There are probably as many unopened collectors as pack rippers for these purchases, so "box and case break" is a more accurate term than "group rip" anyway.

I agree. I was just commenting on the irony of the "rip" title. It doesn't matter to me one way or the other. I personally enjoy ripping, but to each his own.
By the way, all of the packs in my box were in great shape. I got 16 cards with chance at 10's including Schmidt and few other stars. I got 2 Ryan's, both really nice, one has a shot at a 9. One Murray, probably a 7 due to centering. I had a few packs with stars showing, a Bench on the back, McCovey on back, McCovey on front, Eckersley on back. I ripped them all but one which has Carlton on back and Rose Record Breaker on front.
Nice box, Tommy! I think I will crack open my box later tonight as well, as I already have 2 other 78 OPC boxes in the collection.

I ripped mine today, i had 1 1981 football, there was nothing there of note but the 2 1984 cellos got a nice L.T., Montana replay and Darrell Green rookie but has gum resido on back..also a beauty Ricky Jackson rookie, looks like a 9 maybe a 10!! If someone can post pic from an email i would send pic as i don't have a scanner..Thanks Mike for letting me in the group rip it was great and cant wait to try again..Scott
Those 78's are clear and crisp! Murray is notorious for having a lot of "Snow", but yours all seems real nice. Congrats to those who bought those boxes.

I'll be a little bit of debbie downer & mention the 2 packs of 80 opc bb I opened were all diamond cut. I hope no one else gets the same. If you haven't opened them yet maybe they are a candidate to remain unopened. On a happier note I did pull a Sandberg RC out of my 83 cello and one of the 82 cellos has a Gary Carter on front or maybe that's the back. I'll leave this one unopened. The highlight of my football packs was a good looking '83 topps Mike Singletary RC. Oh, and I did pull a 49er's QB out of a 81 topps -- Steve DeBerg not a Montana RC-- missed it by this much.... Overall it was a lot of fun.
Yes I picked up a complete box of 1991 Topps Desert Shield. It's wrapped nice, the receipt is also wrapped and is staying that way. It wasn't cheap, but have always wanted some cards or packs, and decided to go the unopened route.

Wow, where did you get that box? Is the receipt the original from 1991, or is it from your transaction? I'd love to see some pics.
The box I bought is from BBCE and in MINT condition. Steve sealed like he always does, and it's bubble wrapped over the box and receipt. The tape used says... If seal has been broken, check contents. I'll get a picture of it, but I'm leaving it just like that. Should be a good investment 20 years from now.

I'll be happy to step up and grab at least some of these if they don't get paid ASAP. I'd hate for Steve to get cold feet on doing this again due to a hassle getting paid.

I'd take a couple more packs too, especially the '79 cellos. I signed up for two packs but was late and only got one. I'd love another one or two. Perhaps some football too. Let me know.

<< <i>Are you ripping them? >>
Not right now, as I have tons of stuff, and I'm currently going through some 1982 M*A*S*H Donruss cards.
I will let you know what I get though...
Paul.
Later, Paul.
...and I REALLY WISH Eddie Murray played with the Expos! I forgot how many Expos and Blue Jays were in OPC products! lol
EDIT TO ADD: every other pack has back-to-back couples in them. One time the doubles were two Nolan Ryan leaders cards.

Paul,
I am looking to upgrade a few raw M*A*S*H cards for my set. If you need to upgrade some maybe we could trade. LMK.
Sorry about the thread hijack.

Very nice on the Nolan Ryan back. I have always liked the 79 A's team card, I think because the coaches wore white jerseys.
