MS62. Nice full luster and a much better date in the series. The numerous tick marks keep it from a higher grade.

The larger pics actually made the coin easier to grade and authenticate. Your new small sized pics are not sufficient for this purpose.

    I would grade a 62.

MS62 but the reverse is much nicer, maybe even Gem.

The big photos really help; from the smaller ones I thought the obverse was AU, but the super-enlargement shows it is MS. I agree that the reverse looks extremely nice, so I look for a grade boost to 63.

I am no gold expert by any means, so don't take my grade offensively or as gospel. There seem to be a lot of marks present so I give it a MS61. There doesn't seem to be any rub.

62+ ... the luster and reverse may carry it higher still

Was going to say 62, then I scrolled down and saw the larger pics. I'd say 61. Just too many hits. The reverse is nice though!

I grade it a bit nicked up 63. Is it in a 64 holder?

    Obverse MS61
    Reverse MS64+

I'd say they'd average it out and call it MS62 or MS63

I'd grade it MS-62 but would not fault the grader if it ended up on an MS-63 holder.

I've been in the market for an MS-64 or 65 Three Dollar Gold piece and have not been able to find one that suited me. A great many of the MS-65 graded coins I've seen have had a lot of marks in the field like this piece.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

I've seen far baggier coins get graded by the top tier grading services.

I saw it in person. I thought it had great luster but a fair amount of ticks and should be a 63.

    MS63

Outstanding luster is good enough for a 64 or 65 coin which tends to pull the grade. The marks are magnified considerably in both sets of photos which doesn't help in GTG.
