Yep, he's a good guy, I have bought and sold with him off ebay. His pricing appears to be a bit enthusiastic on that piece but maybe it's just me, everybody has to make a living someway.
Personally, I don't think Hayden AT'd the coin. At least not deliberately. The color looks like it was caused by storage in something that reacted with the surfaces.

It's a crying shame...some one ruined a perfectly good .. ah...counterfeit?...fantasy coin? ... reproduction of a "never issued coin? .... I really don't give a rats ars.

Does it really matter if it is AT? It'll never see the light of day at NGC or PCGS anyway! I'd bet ANACS would call it AT!! No way that toned on it's own in a mere matter of months....
When I purchased the coin back in January it was already toned, so no, I didn't do it myself.
Yes, the price is high, but I like the coin and don't really care if it sells anytime soon. It's worth having it listed just as an attention grabber and it appears to work just as well online as it does in my showcase!
Shane, you must see a lot of AT stuff... What do you do with a coin that you KNOW is not NT but you also know you can make money on? (Serious question. Not trying to start anything.)
<< <i>If your going to continue to sell a lot of raw AT coins folks are going to natural assume your a coin doctor...just sayin..... >>
Shane, I'm surprised by your comments...I don't sell very many toned coins, and I believe I only have 1 raw toner listed: a 1904 German 2 Mark. Perhaps you have my account confused with one of these jokers with the easybake ovens?
<< <i>When I purchased the coin back in January it was already toned, so no, I didn't do it myself. >>
Would you agree that it was "done," though? >>
No not at all, the previous owner didn't have it stored correctly...
I personally like the toning, "market acceptable" or not. >>
So toning on a coin just made in the last 6 months could be "market acceptable"? This coin was just restamped in the last (less than a year) right? How many peace dollars have color like that? Are you not seeing a problem calling this "market acceptable" since your coin seems to be 1 of 1 with this type of color?

In all fairness I have plenty of Peace dollars that are much more colorful than the coin in discussion here. I mean to be honest the coin of discussion here isn't even colorful. No matter how it was put there it is what it is. I like it, and some wont.

So where are the marks from going through the stamping to create the fantasy coin? This isn't a peace dollar. It has been restamped. That color is less than 12 months old.
Not sure what all the hubbub is all about as these stopped being "Coins" the second the host US Silver Peace $1 was re-struck... As it's now just Novelty Bullion.

Im confused????? What marks are you talking about?
PS silver does not need 12 months to oxidize...I think the toning on this coin was encouraged but, I do not believe it was baked in an oven or introduced to chemicals.
I find it horrible that so many of you are inclined to fling dirt that is staining a mans livelihood without any type of evidence that he has done a darn thing wrong. I hope that the majority can see through this mudslinging because it is just downright wrong. Seriously folks, you are messing with a mans livelihood, Im not speaking of the $500 coin in question. I am speaking of the doubt that is being putting into folks heads about the seller that might effect the almost 500 other coins he has listed. If somebody can provide some type of evidence that this seller has committed fraud than I will be the first in line with my pitchfork, but until than I hope we all can watch what we say so this man can make a living.
I guess I am with Monstar on this...I see no attempt at deception on the part of the seller and he has a good reputation on these boards to assure that any transaction with him will go smoothly.
He isn't hyping the toning, he never calls the 'coin' anything other than what it is - a fantasy piece. What is the BFD? Lotsa folks with their thongs in a knot tonight...
Many collectors didn't buy these when they were first offered at about $150. a pop and are now disgruntled enough to comment negatively when they sell for triple that amount. Sour grapes, pure and simple.
uummm....worth pointing out it hasn't in fact sold. A swift look at page one on the BST shows multiple examples , i don't see any sold signs there either , just a whole lot of TTT's , in all fairness.

There's a set for $1800 listed on the BST... does anyone remember the original sales price for the 5 coins? I think it was a little over a grand? I've always liked the coins, although I'm not to fond of the fact that approximately 1,800 Peace dollars were destroyed to create this fantasy piece. The prices seem to be dropping. A whole set, in the custom holder ($100+) sold for $1,695 on eBay. That's about $1,300 net for the 5 coins. Approximately a 25% gain, not too bad, but not as good as it once was!
However, this (and two other posts) were questioning whether a coin can tone this much this quickly. As I posted above "To everyone that criticized the PNG for their inability to define coin doctoring... take a look at this thread." If we can't agree on something this current... how can we expect the PNG to define coin doctoring on coins decades, even centuries older?

That isn't heat toning.

Who did or did not tone that silver round or medal, or whatever it is, is not important to me.

Nice! What is that called? Fantasy toning.
No idea who did it, nor do I care, but I vote heat was a factor.
If this was a morgan dollar would it be market acceptable toning?
