<< <i>which Joba do you have, Kurt? >>

    the fat one
  • Hello everyone, first time caller, long time listener. I just want to start off by thanking everyone for all of your insight and research for this thread. I've been coming here the last 2-3 years reading everyone's post's about Heritage and A&G. I have come to value everyone's input on these subjects. It's helped me out alot. I thank you.

I want to try to do my part and offer my input and contribute to the thread. I have the Vladimir Guerrero #125 SP or maybe even SSP on Ebay. (Atleast I think it might be a short print). I noticed a couple of pages ago someone mentioned short prints being related to the codes on the bottom of the cards, thank you to who ever it was. I purchased 6 Blasters from Meijer over the weekend. (By the way Meijer has there cards on sale 20% off till Saturday 4/2/11 I think). As I was ripping them I noticed I got a Joba Chamberlain #139 SP. It was in the middle of the pack and it was upside down. As I was going through the rest of the packs I came across the Vladimir card upside down. So I investigated and couldn't see any differecences on the front. Then I looked on the back and noticed the code was the same as the Joba, 9911108. (By the way I changed my Ebay listing of the Joba and added pictures of the code to verify 9911108.) I think Kurt's Joba was a green tint. My James Shield's blue tint has a code of 9911109. Anyways, I did more investigating and noticed that it had pitcher for Vlad's position. Thats how I discovered the card. Sorry for the drawn out story. Thought it might be interesting to share. I just wanted to contribute to the sight to try to help out, like all of you have done for me.

Keep up the good work with the research. Take from this what you will. Thanks for reading.

Welcome Scott, two SSP's out of one pack..thats not bad!

  • << <i>Welcome Scott, two SSP's out of one pack..thats not bad! >>

Thanks Walt. It wasn't from the same pack. It was from a different Blaster.
  • Just pulled a pujols/sabathia stamp #8/62 from a blaster. 4th box into a blaster case now. I'll rip more of it tomorrow night.

I went through all my Vlad's last night, 24 of them and none of them have the Pitcher designation on the back, so it's definitely looking like a tough one to pull.

They do that pretty frequently as new sets come out.
  • Topps confirms 2011 Heritage Baseball SPs and variations

    By Chris Olds | Editor

Collectors have been examining their 2011 Topps Heritage baseball cards closely since their arrival earlier this month, discovering variations and nods to the past here and there.

But on Thursday Topps made all the guessing games end as it confirmed a group of variations in the set.

The short-printed base cards are Nos. 426-500, while card Nos. 110-158 and 160-196 have green-tinted cards, while there are blue-tinted versions in Walmart loose packs and red-tint cards found in Target loose packs.

Six short-printed variations in the set include:

    – Alex Rodriguez (reversed negative), a card that has sold for as much as $300.

    – David Wright (Cincinnati Reds listed on front)

    – Joba Chamberlain (appears on a version of card No. 139)

    – Bengie Molina (Wrong birthday on back)

    – Ryan Zimmerman (bbatting average incorrect on back)

    – Vladimir Guerrero (listed as a pitcher on the back)

Topps also confirmed that Green Refractor Hot Boxes are found one per hobby case.

I am no expert, but this sure looks like a green tint to me, both came from hobby.

    image

Explain this to me, both came from hobby, notice the different tints? Both the Lester & Joba on the right have the same tint and are the only ones like this from 2 1/2 hobby cases:

    image

    Opinions wanted. image
  • In my opinion-

Joba on left - green tint

    Joba on right - SSP

Lester on left - green tint

    Lester on right - base

Check the codes in fine print on the back.

I don't think the Lester is a green tint (But WTF do I know about these) On the Joba, the dirt is tinted too. If the Lester is a tint, then I have several that may be. Now to get out the loupe to red the codes..... Sigh....

Looking at the codes, they are as follows:
Joba left - green tint 9911109
Joba right - blue tint 9911109
    Lester left - base 9911101
Lester right - blue tint 9911109

The blues just do not seem to match up with the rest of the blue tint set.

wasn't there a dual player card SSP also?
  • matthewbschultz83matthewbschultz83 Posts: 1,259 ✭✭✭
That was a Green Tint Arod/Tex that Olbermann thought was a SSP and paid handsomely for. Turns out it was just a Green Tint as someone here speculated. The same color variation on the name can be seen on the Pride of the A's Multi Player Braden/Cahill card.

If you pulled it from hobby, it is a green tint I guess. All the tints (red, blue, and green) have code 9911109 I believe. Blue tints can only be pulled from Wal-Mart retail loose packs I think, but maybe this one slipped in?

  • I was way off - that does look like a blue tint - definitely not a green based on some of the Green Lesters that are on ebay. It does look like the blue Lesters on ebay, and a lot like my blue Todd Helton.

You would think they would be a little more consistent with the blue tint. Would I be correct in assuming the Joba is the blue tint with the code or is it a mistake with the code on the back, everything on ebay is either green or this tint. Is there a blue tint or red tint Chamberlain #139?

As an update, I went back and checked all the other card #'s that are ssp's and did not have any. Still curious if I may have sent some out in the multitude of cards I have shipped out in the last 2 weeks.
  • I'm with you Stoney, I'm sure whatever ssp cards I had have been shipped out.

This is driving me crazy now. I have to know the answer.

    SSP?
    image

    Green - Yes Blue?
    image

I give up, I am going to have a drink now. image
  • I think you got it Stoney! The green, blue, and red versions of the Joba card #139 are not any more short printer than other green, blue, and red tints since that replaces his card #159, which only exists as a base card.

<< <i>Q) The chrome set was missing many of the stars. Why did topps feel they could leave those names out? Will they appear in other products in the future?

    A) Yes, the Heritage Chrome Parallel will be continued in 2011 Topps Chrome baseball starting with card # 101.

    Walt,

Did I read this right- Green tints are in hobby boxes only. Green tints are not in retail?

    He meant green chromes.
  • *Base Cards 426-500 are short printed and can be found 1:3 packs.*Replicating the original 1962 Topps , there are short printed GREEN TINT variations. Subjects include cards 110-158 and 160-196. These are found in hobby boxes only.

To stress that this is not the case, I pulled a green tint from a retail rack pack. Honest mistake.

    lol.....

    Just updating my trade needs.

I'd like to get Polanco or Victorino in Red tint. Could also use Lidge or Polanco in blue tint...but admittedly as a Phils fan I prefer the red over the others! image

I have available these SP's I just got. Also, have some base left. If people need some let me know.

    Here are the SP's:

    #445 Prince Fielder
    #451 Ben Revere RC
    #456 Jeff Keppinger
    #459 John Buck
    #465 Cincinnati Reds Team Card
    #468 Evan Longoria
    #479 Lucas Harrell RC
    #485 Matt Garza
    #486 Martin Prado
    #494 Rookie Parade

    Great pull!!

I stopped at K-Mart at lunch today and they finally got some blasters. Picked up 3 blasters and 5 Jumbo packs.

Will be ripping as soon as the Sox score a run today **(feels good to be able to say that again)

You're such an optimist....I say he won't be ripping until after the All Star break. (Mike if you pull something for my Cardinals collection, please forget this comment.) image

Great pull Kev, so far this is the first year that I haven't pulled ink from retail.
  • Forgot about the new SSP list when I ripped this morning, just started sorting and realized I pulled the Zimmerman SSP.
