Suggestion to PCGS

Stop allowing free email accounts to be used when signing up for an account. The number of reoccurring trolls is getting a bit much IMO. By only allowing registered accounts you will make it a more accountable environment.

I just registered across the way, and they have a policy of no free email accounts. I thought I was sunk, but I tried anyways with my gmail account and it worked.

Perhaps some other verification would be in order, but I don't know what to suggest.

And lots of us, myself included, have free email accounts.
NGC does exactly as you suggest, and that's the reason I've never been able to post on their forums "across the street"- they don't allow Hotmail addresses.
(And just think of all the pithy wisdom and witty repartee they're missing as a result...)

Ah- there's a use for my shiny new Gmail account, then.
Collector since 1976. On the CU forums here since 2001.
Having said that, I dont feel that it should be CU's responsibility to have one of their employees paid just to handle such a task.
Im sure that CU is well aware that this message forum dramatically helps their bottom line in that it keeps not only coins, but PCGS graded coins in the spotlight and forefront of our minds. However, there is a "breaking point" for any endeavor in regards to its ROI, and I feel that with each additional pot-stirring alt that signs up just to cause trouble.....that breaking point draws ever closer.

PCGS is a business and I am really glad they subsidize the forum but I can see them protecting themselves from attack by persons with agendas.

If this ever happened, you would see a mass migration to the NGC coin forums. Many loyal PCGS customers never buy raw coins to submit to any grading service since they only buy coins that are already slabbed.

And I will admit that for a long time I was one of them. But in a real sense how much money does PCGS make from people that do not submit coins. It is the submitters that pay for all this. It is a lot like buying a used car the manufacture does not make money. And maybe if we all paid to support the forums they would not need those ads as much.

Annoying, perhaps; snobby, definitely not
