1937 Proof Walker
What do you think of this coin? Does the black stuff on the coin just look like toning or something else? What do you think the grade should be? I'm posting several pics because I couldn't get any good ones.

I don't like the spots on this coin at all. I think they make the piece look unattractive. There is a chance that they might dip off the piece, but given their look, they probably will leave some marks. This might be one of those situations where the coin could get a high technical slab grade if it were to be left undipped, but would be quite unattractive to many collectors.
If you have a choice I think I’d pass on this piece and look for one with more eye appeal.

Does not look natural to me.
Something is off with this coin IMO.
The marks around her midsection do not look the same as
the spotty toning. Looks burnished/boinked in some way.
Look at this one close before you buy it.

I have seen these spots or spots like them on Proof Walkers. They usually don't come off or have bitten the surface. Sometimes they look like this after the dip. In general, there are many nicer Proof Walkers.
Best wishes,

So did NGC get it wrong on this one? Or do you think it may have changed after it was slabbed?
