Error coins. They just put me to sleep.

Most variety collecting. I know, coming from a large cent guy this borders on the heretical, but what can I say.

Moderns. To much on how to make money off them, and not enough about collecting them.

Biggest turn off is whiner threads, especially the one-sided stories that present an extremely skewed view of a transaction or interaction.

As far as this forum is concerned:

    1. Modern coins/ bullion/ commemorative issue threads.

    2. "The sky is falling!/ Put on your tin foil hats!/ Elvis is alive!/ The government's coming after us so let's all hoard gold and sleep in underground bunkers" and similar conspiracy themed topics.

    3. Obscure die varieties the vast majority of collectors don't care about.

Those "damn PCGS because they screwed me on my grades and their graders can't grade and now I'm mad as hell and so I'll complain here" threads get honorable mention.

    Let me correct my thoughts.

Any purely numismatic topic on this forum interests me. This is how we broaden our knowledge. The only things that are posted here that bore me are topics that stray far off the path....though on occasion I myself will make such posts.

Humor, sarcastic wit, a bit of OT here and there.....adds some interest and spice to what COULD be a very boring forum.

What I DONT like are long soap boxy threads that are political in nature. Especially when they involve off the wall theories or insults to our government or politicians. Such thread have no place on this forum, and Don Willis has set down some very good guidelines which though at times are stretched...the intent is pure.

If the question is limited to "numismatic topics" then there aren't many that bore me. However, if the question is what three "thread topics" found on this site are boring then the list will be more than filled.

    1. Posts about how the sky high prices for slabbed high grade modern coins are justified.

    2. Newcomb large cent varieties. (Sorry large cent collectors, but I tend to agree with Dr. Sheldon who once called large cents minted after 1814 "machine made tokens.")

    3. The new presidential dollar series despite the fact that I have studied the men who held the office most of my life. The coins are often ugly, and they serve no purpose in commerce because they do not circulate. I now understand that we are wasting tax dollars are storing millions of these useless modern dollar coins in treasury vaults.
