<< <i>Hi everyone, these pieces were found recently under a wooden pillar that was being repaired in a church here in New England. They are all mint state pieces... which is truly rare! If anyone would like to see them ,I will have them on display in Boston at the Baystate show . Todd ,as always did a fantastic job with his imaging! Enjoy ! >>
Cape is being modest here.....The coins are fantastic and amazingly well matched. Mint state is an understatement.
I stories like this!
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
The stuff numismatic dreams are made of!

I hope no one screws with them. They are beautuful just the way they are. Great story too.
>>The holder said 7 coins of 1872 .... but there wasn't a penny>>
perhaps the missing coin is a 3 cent piece (either composition)

I am curious as well about when they think they were placed there. The tape and holders appear newer then 19 th century. And how did you come about them.
<< <i>Wow, those are really great coins. I bet they've never been dipped either. >>
Only in holy water.

Need to be put in the correct holders though.
Too bad the person who stashed the coins didn't have the foresight to choose "CC" mint examples of the dime, quarter, half, and dollar.
Thanks for posting these wonderful pieces!

Don't forget, it could have been a nickel that is missing.
Thanks for the post

<< <i>CC examples probably didnt even make their way out to the East coast for actual circulation, at least not in any quantity... >>
If those were CC coins, the numismatic media would be all over it.
Nice group of coins. Why were they put there? Is there anything more to the background?

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

The 1870-1872 Philly coins don't get quite the attention of the earlier Philly dates, but in many cases just as tough.
