the trendlines that excel makes do not fit the newest week of data well.

8k last week with 12k left.

Is this week the last week?

maybe not, maybe. odds seem to be leaning towards not.

I wonder how the scout commems will do in the aftermarket after sellout? Fire or ice?
  • I believe it will linger on a bit longer. A lot of folks bought hoping to score big on the "flip"side. I'm just not feeling it on this one. I hope people don't get burned, but these things are hard to forecast. I bought 1 of each, PR and UNC. One should buy what they like, but I don't have to tell that to collectors. Resale is another matter, and this one is no Lincoln commem, as far as popularity goes.

For values sake I prefer a coin not to sell out, a sleeper, less to be had (like the Jackie Robinson). Plus it makes it a bit more interesting IMO.

    I'm thinking Ice.

Perhaps someone should set up at the Jamboree.

Actually, I was just thinking that their "ship date padding" may be discouraging purchasers who fear the over 1 month out ship date (and who don't realize they'll likely ship before then).

Ouch!! Just got my 8 Proof Boy Scout Commemoratives back from PCGS. Seven got a 69 and one a 68. I was at least hoping for one 70. Oh well, spit it one hand and wish in the other. I sent them in on a free grading voucher, any thoughts on that?? Would I have been wiser to send them in and paid for faster premium service?? image

In a mini surprise given their recent pace combined with a sellout announcement, 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Silver Dollars took somewhat of a breather as they advanced in weekly sales by only 8,007.

Although demand has been declining ever since their March 23 release, their weekly gains through most of April managed to hover close to the 20,000 range.

It would appear last week’s Scouts uncirculated coin sellout did not pull many fence-sitters into the buying camp.

The latest United States Mint sales report shows that, as of Sunday, the silver dollars have reached 338,609. That is 96.7 of the maximum authorized 350,000 mintage.

The 11,391 remaining are for the proof option only, since the uncirculated BSA coin is no longer available.

On a weekly basis, the uncirculated $1 advanced another 1,379 to reach 108,671. The proof added 6,628 to hit 229,938.

The following table shows the combined proof and uncirculated weekly sales totals since the commemorative dollars were released:

I looked at each one and they looked Flawless. Missed something apparently. You are correct in that the logical approach would have been to go thru a professional. But I would have missed the hunt. Still this is 2010, I’m thinking the mint is slacking. April Second Packing Slip. Quality Control needs fine tuning IMHO.

Thanks for the shout Jerry, you are right, I’m just hard headed. Love The Hobby.

Boy Scouts Coins Edge to(wards) Sell Out

<< <i>It has been slower going of late for the remaining proof 2010 Boy Scouts Commemorative Silver Dollar.

A sell out of the coin could happen at any time with only 5,039 left, but the pace edged slightly slower with buyers picking up 2,381 more compared to last week’s reported 3,437.

The uncirculated version sold out exactly one month ago today. Their numbers continue to be tweaked as returns, cancellations and standby orders are processed.

Weekly numbers were first adjusted downward by 1,375, then by 226 and now 191. Their latest total is 106,897, which leaves 238,082 of the proofs sold.

Combined, 344,961 or 98.6 percent of the authorized 350,000 mintage are gone.

I bought the coin in both finishes, but I believe the coin could have been so much more if they chose the design with the Older scout leader pointing out across the wilderness with the Boy Scout looking on as well. Best in my opinion.

I think alot of people were p'od about the Venturer and the PC bs going on on the obverse of this coin.

Alot of potential lost because of it.

Took longer than I expected, but: Waiting List Notice: The number of orders we have taken meets the maximum limit for the 2010 Boy Scouts of America Centennial Proof Silver Dollar.

    finally.

I forgot to check last week.

The Lincoln Proof Commems are pretty stable around the $60 ship. incl. range.

These I think will go for no more than list price for a while

Why? Is there anything wrong with them?
Doesn't sound like something that a Scout would do......

I actually wasn't even aware I had these on backorder. I thought they were sold out. I don't get my kicks paying return shipping just for giggles.

  • The post-sellout chatter on these died off pretty quick. Me thinks this does not bode well for the controversial BSA commem.
