<< <i>There do not seem to be many WDDR 001's and 2's being found. I have not found any more I know. I think I will sell off the rest of my good boxes as I have enough errors for myself anyway. >>

I agree with you. I have been watching the eBay LP2 roll sets being sold the last couple of months and very very few of the prime dates/times being sold. Sure there have been many boxes, but there really is a specific window in the dates/times to find the prime errors. I have said before, 300,000 boxes sold by the Mint, over at least 30 different production dates. So there were not that many put together on a specific date. The average would be 10,000 boxes a day assuming of course, equal production over that 30 day period. Either collectors are holding back on selling the "hot" boxes or they are truly drying up. I am not really sure but I believe the Double Thumb, Sixth Finger, and Skeleton Finger varieties have strong potential and I follow these closely. >>

I have notice one collector selling WDDR 001's on ebay (5 for $30). He is selling a few of these. Hopefully these sales will get some coins into collectors hands.

I thought they were WDDR 006 (skeketon finger). Looks like he has a bunch.
  • ConstantineConstantine Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭
Looks like he has been selling lots of 5 WDDR-006 Skeletons for $30 a pop and they are being purchased quite regularly. Someone is getting a great deal in my opinion. The WDDR-006/CDDR-009 Skeletons are the most limited of the major varieties for the 2009 FY!
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

Those look more like WDDR 001's to me. The skeleton fingers are much longer but either way they are a great bargain. I have not bought any as I want to see other collectors get some to increase the demand for them.

In the last 2 weeks he's sold

    20 WDDR-006 "Skeleton" @ $6 each, & 10 WDDR-001 @ $6 each

    Personally, I don't need the $180. I'll hang-on to mine.

It'll be 1 year, on the 14th, since the FY release. Where did the time go?
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

You have been keeping a close eye on him haven't you. I agree on not selling any of mine at that price. He will be sorry but it is good he is getting some of them out to collectors as this will make other collectors want them.

No I haven't. It's easy to see sales activity on Ebay.

I think some of these will be $25+ raw coins. I'm not selling mine.

Prime date LP2 boxes are scarce, if non-existent, so new supplies will not be turning up
  • clackamasclackamas Posts: 5,615
I still have 50 boxes of the prime dates. I am keeing them sealed for now. I got a bunch graded, nothing higher than MS66 from PCGS.

Not boasting, because it doesn't matter to anyone but me, but I have 200+ prime date boxes

I hear that a few will be in the 2010 Cherrypicker

My guess is WDDR-006 skeleton finger, right?
  • ConstantineConstantine Posts: 2,369 ✭✭✭
I opened up everyone of my boxes and all the others I purchased in this year. It was a fun thrill opening them, discovering new errors (I was the first to report the Skeleton Finger to Crawford), and categorizing my FY DDR & DDO collection. I am telling you, a fool is selling these for $5 a pop. Not calling this seller personally a fool, but point being, The Big Three have A LOT of room for growth, attention, and collectibility down the road.

I don't know for sure, but I'd put money on these

    WDDR-001; 6th Finger

    WDDR-002; Double thumb

    WDDO-002/WDDR-006; Skeleton Finger

Those are the only ones that I have saved. I have sold my last 2 unopened boxes and will not be buying any more . I have plenty right now. and do not intend to give any away for $5 or $6 apiece. I am in no hurry.

I still have around 50 prime dates boxes also and several rolls with the three keys on the ends. One roll is a WDDR-001 and a WDDR-002 on the other end of the same roll, and a few with WDDR-006 on the ends. Not sure if they will hold a value, if not I will bust them someday. I have not opened any since Oct last year but I am glad I have them. I think they will be in demand in the future and even more if they come out in the Cherry Pickers as someone else pointed out.

    What's the listing? I didn't see it.

I take it the variety is not listed correctly?

I've sold quite a few 6th finger and skeleton varieties, even recently. There is definite continued interest -- the naysayers can boo all they want. I've done quite well with these.

This quote from the "Lincoln Cent Resource" website explains this

<< <i>Some individuals have doubted that these 2009 doubled
dies are true doubled dies. The coin certification company,
NGC, has stated that they do not believe that these are
doubled dies at all, and must be ‘something else’.
    This belief
is largely due to a misunderstanding of the single squeeze
hubbing process. Many collectors are not aware of the fact
that most modern doubled dies are more likely to be found in
the center of the design. This is because of the fact that the
die blank is cone shaped before hubbing. Bob Piazza states
"It is not necessarily the highest point of the relief that we
address when we talk about a single squeeze doubled die.
We point to the very center of the hub where it will make the
first contact with the die blank. The die blank is conical in
shape, not flat faced. If the hub and blank are not perfectly
parallel to each other, when the hub is lowered, the very first
‘kiss’ between the two will not correctly positioned. This
initial contact begins to leave an impression on the die
blank. Continued hubbing pressure, or a realization by the
mint technicians that the two are not parallel may result in a
readjustment, slip, or snap back between the hub and die
blank. Once this has been corrected, or the snap back
occurs, continued hubbing pressure leaves the normal
impression on the die blank in addition to the impression
made by the first ‘kiss’. This is identified as a Class 8 (tilted
hub) or shifted hub (Class 9 on coppercoins.com) doubled
    die." >>

Another item selling right now when they become available are the 8 piece MS 67 fdi sets by ANACS.

    listing #190394164246

not my listing but I have a couple of sets like it and they are very nice.

  • Ok...what's the latest? Any news of inclusion of these in the future of PCGS or NGC or the Red Book? I just bought a few more boxes (lp2), dated 4/15 to chase after the major die crack reverse variety (don't know the ddr # offhand) These seem to fairly rare as are the ddr-006 skeleton finger... I opened two boxes and found only three total.....anyone have an idea of their actual rarity?

I sold hundreds of those. They are found in at least 3 dated boxes. If you look back in this thread you will find the dates. My best was 8 in a roll and found several with the end coin being this one. They were my favorite!!!
  • CoinCrazyPACoinCrazyPA Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭✭
I have found these in two different dates but only at certain times of the day stamped on the boxes. I can't recall the time anymore though.

The 16th is where I found mine.
  • I tried to go back in this thread to find the three dates that included this die crack error...obviously the 15th and 16th have been mentioned in the last couple of responses, but what was the third date?

It's summer vacation time. And with the economy still in the toilet; I wouldn't hope for much.
  • Can anyone tell me what rolls/dates the doubled die "Denver" coins were found in?

Were they in just Mint Rolls or also in Bank Rolls?.... any info will be appreciated... :-)

Mostly in mint rolls dated 4/17 to 4/30. That is where the best of the significant finds were found.
  • clackamasclackamas Posts: 5,615
    With 4/29 being the best
  • Thanks to those replying back...

So just to be 100% clear... - NO Double Die "D" Mint coins were found in Bank Rolls...
Is this correct... reason I am being sure about the Denver coins is because I have over
    100 Bank rolls... lol

It will help to save me alot of extra work knowing this... plus NOT looking forward looking
thru all those pennies if it isn't worth it.

    Side Note:
It was pretty cool seeing my "Terminal Die Cracked Lincoln" on the cover of Coin World's July Issue...

I think a few may be confused. The DDRs found in Mint two roll sets are all Philadelphia. Zero Denver and not even sure what DDRs were found in circulation strikes if any.

Yes I know... I found at least 25 different varieties in those dated boxes... I just heard that people are
saying that now there are Doubled Dies in the Denver Mint Rolls too... just trying to get the scoop on these...

Of all the boxes I searched I kept all the D rolls just in case an error or errors were found. But I have not heard of any. Would be nice if there are.

Wexler lists 15 ddr's for 2009D cents. Check out the site. I wasn't aware of these either and haven't cracked out any of the "d" rolls to search yet. The dates of 4/17 - 4/30 are the dates to check for these also?

If so, I've got some work ahead of me.... p.s. there are a couple of "satin finish" 2009D ddr's listed so I'm assuming those came out of the uncirculated sets.

I would not advise putting them up at the present time. I was running some MS67's for 3 months and got a lot of lookers but no buyers.

I've looked at Denver Mint Rolls from boxes 4/15 to 5/4.

To my knowledge the Denver DDRs were not found in the mint sets, they were found in bank rolls.

Doesn't mean they're not in Mint boxes, I didn't look at any boxes dated after 5/4

Doesn't mean I might have overlooked one either; the Denver DDRs are very small. I don't find them interesting.
