The idle rich shop on ebay too...

I sold a few thousand $ worth of buffalos to a lady in England around Thanksgiving. Shipped them and they got hung up in customs. They weren't supposed to because there is no duty on .9999 gold in UK. But they did and I couldn't get ahold of her and they were returned to me. Next I heard from her in Jan she was in the Caribbean on vacation with very limited internet access. I replied and told her I had the coins...nothing for another 3 weeks. Now she is in Brazil on continued vacation...may stop byt the states later on...will pick up the double shipping charges. Apologetic but not at all worried that I have the money and the coins too.
Maybe I should deliver them in person...

maybe she has lots of money and the extra wait, extra charge, etc doesn't even bug her.

Be prepared. May not be what it seems!

I guess PAYPAL chargebacks probably not an issue if they do not know they do not have it

Being naive is not cool, it's dumb. Crooks and scammers love people like this. In the real world, you need to be on your toes all the time. Trust people after they've earned your trust.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

Being naive is one thing, but to automatically assume nobody is to be trusted is part of what's wrong in the world today. Why is it so hard to believe that there actually are a lot of good people who are successful, happy, trusting and trustworthy?
Yes, there are crooks and scammers, but they are the minority. I believe most people are good and will act in a good way when given the chance.
I've dealt with people like the one in the OP and it's a real pleasure.
Smile and pay it forward my friend!
Edited to add - Trusting someone does not equate to being naive.

Now now, Jerry; you seem like a very nice young man. please think twice before you take on a "high maintenance" lady. It could put a crimp in your numismatic activity.

I never said to "automatically assume nobody is to be trusted". Sorry to disagree but to totally trust a complete stranger in a long distant transaction involving a lot of money is naive. That's why people use credit cards and paypal linked to their credit card so if they get ripped off they can do a chargeback. That's why people carefully review the sellers feedback. And that's why people ignore e-mails from Nigerian bankers and eBayers selling raw trade dollars from China.

Hey, I'm also a geeky nuclear engineer and a single father with custody of two small kids. What more could an incredibly rich, world traveled, highly sophisticated woman want???
