    An absolutely horrible piece of S&#$ design.....

    I am glad they are only making a 1 oz proof of this coin, so I don't have to waste money extending my 1/10 oz run....

    Diverse members?

    I was raised that a person's outward appearance, heritage, or religious denomination was never an indicator that they were a good or bad person.

    True diversity lies in each individual's thoughts and beliefs, not being classified as part of a group.

    I find it somewhat sad and yet amusing how those that claim tolerance for diversity are often intolerant toward individuals that have views that are very diverse from their own.

    I wonder if the same half wit that chose the 2010 Lincoln reverse also chose this design. This is an insult to the artists who went through the trouble to submit beautiful designs.

    It doesn't work IMHO.

    That's the problem with decisions by committee.

    This "perfect union" coin design is a race-based slap in the face to 95% of the folks who would buy this coin.

    I find the generic, stereotyped features of the representative groups depicted equally offensive. Seriously, an Indian in braids with a feather in his hair?? I also don't understand why they apparently excluded hispanics from their "perfect union" melting pot. I guess they couldn't make room for a Mexican sombrero? What a terrible design.

    Ugly & expensive coin .... based on Plat spot of $1,450+ .... it's gonna cost $1,792 per coin. (The coin is so artistic unacceptable, it has a chance of becoming the key coin in the Plat series.image)

    For the past month, I was wondering whether I would be purchasing the proof plat. Looks like the US Mint has made that decision easy for me.

    My cash will be better spent elsewhere.

    Even though many will not purchase this coin because of the poor design..... it will still sell enough that it will not be a lower mintage than the 2008 coins. The 2008 will remain on top.

    The year 2008 was the perfect storm.... a one of a kind year for low mintage.

    Even if by some "black swan" scenario this coin becomes the rarest plat known, I will rest easy I did not have ANY part of owning such a coin.

    This could be the "Jackie Robinson" of the plat series.

    I can't stick my neck out on this new series. Too pricey.

    If there were fractionals.....maybe(?)

    I just don't see much of a chance of a super low mintage on this. They have announced 8,000 max.... and if the past is any indication, will probably keep selling it at least for a year. The coins are probably all minted already. When we get closer to the end of the one year period, and mintages are still super low... there will be an increase in purchases with the hope it will be the next Jackie Robinson.... thus assuring it will not be the low mintage key.

    The Jackie Robinson was a sleeper 'niche' coin. This PC plat is a 'generic' PC theme, just like the segregation silver dollar. Remember how everyone thought that would be a bust, and low mintage? Not by a long shot..... ......... course it was a lot cheaper than this plat will be.

    Certainly... the plat bears keeping an eye on. But I just don't see much potential in it. Unless.... hmmm..... a first strike label perhaps?

    go back about 100 pages in Eric's epic moderns post(somewhat of an exagerration-but the designs were revealed/discussed a long time ago and the current official choice is the same as rumored official choice then) neocoin -that's perfect!
