Looks similar to the packaging for the now-discontinued American Legacy proof sets. Sales were less than 30K each for the last two years of the Legacy sets, and the bulky packaging probably contributed to their demise.
I really think that packaging like this will discourage potential sales. Coin collectors shouldn't have to be box collectors also.
That holder is insane. Besides being way too big, why does the picture repeat the design shown immediately below it? Why not show the reverse? TD

Looks to me like it takes one step to put the coin in it and it stacks flat for easy shipping. Probably an efficiency/cost cutting measure. The boxes are a labor intensive anachronism. The exception is the extremely fancy boxes for expensive coins that they sell for $100+ premium. --Jerry

coin collecting, when seeing coins like that, is pretty darn lame. thankfully it is just an over priced bullion round and destined for the melt bucket some day
I've solved my "moral hazard" about rewarding the Mint with an order for these.
I'm going to load up on Margaret Taylors and then use the profits from that extremely low mintage key to buy a couple of these after they crash in price.

Did we not see the eagle's head is severed from it's body ? It looks like the head of a rat in relation to the other six heads (five heads and the obverse) on the coin. Where is that majestic bird perched, or is it in flight ?

it is political correctness backlash. put it this way. you are supposed to judge people by how they treat others and live their life. the color of their skin or the shape of their nose is not supposed to be taken into consideration. yet here we have a coin pushing the idea of "a more perfect union" has to do with a bunch of different skin colors getting along.
i do not care that a white male was not put on the coin. what i want to see is a symbol that all people can look to that represents us as a whole. liberty or the eagle did that very well. perhaps a flag or a tree. whatever really that shows strength, freedom, etc...
"a more perfect union" should be symbolized by something that includes us all.
so that is sorta how i am thinking here and would guess others are in the same boat.
eventually politically correct people have to "grow up" and stop pushing the fact we are different physically from others. we know that! if this country was really past this stage of feeling so guilty we would not see coin designs like this. but alas... some people feel guilty for sins they did not commit and have to attempt to right wrongs that take time to heal. this coin design represents their guilt and it wants to attempt a fix they can be "proud" of. See here.. i am not a racist.. look at this coin. We white folks understand you now. Lets all hug.

We don't care that there are no white males on the coin per se. Out of context, the coin would be OK. But in the context of the modern workforce, if you've been involved with a large company (or tried to get a white kid into a good college) in the past 10 years, you've found out that diversity is code for "make a white male your last choice". So that's what the reverse of this coin symbolizes to those who have been there, done that, still wearing T-shirts instead of suits.

And THAT, my friends is the essence of political correctness. It used to be that being a white male gave you some latitude to be a reasonable individual with a sense of fairness and justice. After 40 or 50 years of this political correctness, of being attacked for being white, male, heterosexual, Christian, educated - whatever, it gets really, really old. The attacks never stop. Might as well wear a t-shirt with a bullseye on the front and back. Nothing good has come from political correctness, and nothing good ever will. Just my two cents.
