I need to be renamed Big Dummy

YEP...

I am officially "Big Dummy". I had 20 boxes of mint sealed 2008 W half ounce plat eagles, and each box contained 4 $50 2008 W Unc Plats. I sold them off at around 30% above the then current spot price of platinum. Last four pack was sold just three weeks ago.

Please brother, show some respect. I had a couple of dozen 1 oz. AGEs that I sold when gold reached $400.00.

I am also a big DUMMY.

I'll be there soon. since I piped in maybe I should put this on the list as the first title I should consider. However, I think I know what I'll be using. --jerry
  • Well that was what??

    Just under a 50K initial investment. (20 x 4 x $600)

I'd guess you realized 30-40% return in 1 year.

    Not too shabby.

If you opened boxes before sale I'm sure you cherry picked best to keep a few.............

You're in good company I'm sure, myself included. I sold 10 1 oz. AGEs at $675... I had bought them at $270 so I'm OK with it but I still kick myself. I hate 20/20 examples

Just think ... the proof 2008...70 PCGS FS 1/2 oz buffs could be had for $700 or less in June - July 08 ... and look at them now...A fellow board member was kind enough to sell one to me at that price last year.

I had 5000 shares of AIG at 8.60. Sold it 30 min later for 9.50. 36 days later was 55.image

Had 3000 shares of FCX at 16. sold at 20 the next day. Is 85 now.

I could probably list 100 more. But they all have one thing in common, all were sold for more than paid.image

I think there are a lot of us that with 20/20 hindsight are in the big dummy club!! But as long as you made a profit that is the important thing...

You lost only opportunity instead of money. Accept your profit gratefully and enjoy the good karma of knowing that a lot of meat was left on the bones for your buyers. image

You are indeed in good company, I'd sold (15) of my 2008 Reverse of 2007 ASE NGC ER 70's for 360-400ish ea., just a few days before they hit 1K each...but as they say, nobody ever lost money taking a profit...it does sting however...image

I sold a freind of mine a few slabbed common date AU Saints for, IIRC, $380 each in 2002... and also around the same time I sold someone my show quality 1969 Cougar Eliminator with a boss 302 in it for $25,000.
