Yes, I can believe it. I've only found one myself. But I really haven't searched many boxes, only about 10. I've lost count of my unopened boxes.

Buying? I gave up a couple of weeks ago. There market for the single error coins, graded or not, just did not develop. Any boxes bought now would be just for fun 'cuz I have way too many DDR's that I will never be able to sell (well...never is a strong word I guess)

I chose not to open my boxes, waiting to see what would happen. Boxes may be worth more unopened. If select DDRs become hot, I'll have the boxes to search.
I opened a 4/22 today I knew what I was going to get but for some reason on ebay two 4/22 are going for $30+. So I opened mine to see if I missed something and I was correct WDDR-008 were in there along with some die cracks from the log to the rim. Nothing unexpected. Just was curious why they were selling for so high. Anyone else open any boxes this week? Please post your finds.

I vote for any extra fingers or thumbs that can be seen w/o a magnifying glass be kept, the others (since no one really wants them) should be put in a dark hiding place.....I mean how many extra die cracks from the log which look like hair.....not to mention smeared doubled dies and truly microscopic ones. I can personally see the original finger; double thumb; skeleton; large 12 o'clock crack; through the head down the jaw crack.
without the blue arrows to point out the other doubles......hey wait a minute....why not screen print a blue arrow on the lesser doubles????
<< <i>That is why I do not save any of the minor errors. They are just junk as far as I am concerned. >>
This is true but these minor attributions take away, in number at least, from the nicer coins!
After all, when you mention Lincoln Formative Years DDR, the sheer number a varieties makes folks think they are a common as air and the end result is that folks quickly get turned off.
Compare this with the DDR 2009-D DC Quarter................
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
<< <i>I just use a loupe, don't own any microscopes...so I probably have missed some of the ddr's in my search.....those I would classify as minor. love the major ones though! >>
It seems to me that there comes a point where the errors are so small as to the point of meaningless. I must have over 100 I call 'unknown' errors before they were assigned an error number, and I don't see any reason to keep them.
Here's just one example which I had to see at 50X.............it's just some goofy 'nub' or something that has NO wow or excitement. 50X keep that in mind. Not sure if it has a number or not, don't really care, it's going into circulation eventually. Think of the time and effort trying to sell something like that. Or even to enjoy it. Can't see it w/a loupe either. As for me, this is just mint crud.....this series has way too much mint crud. Hope they use better dies for the last 2 lincolns.
As for the negative "microscope" comments, I need to add that my scope has a 10x and a 30x lens. Perhaps the "biggest" asset to a microscope is not in its ability to magnify but in its ability to control hte light on the object being viewed.
Sometimes, a 10x view with a microscope will reveal with absolute clarity, that which cannot be seen with a 10x loupe because the light cannot be reflected properly.
Major doubling is not a problem in this area but some of the minor stuff is. IMO, when the minor doubling falls into the category where it can ONLY be seen with a microscope, then consideration should be given as to whether or not its TOO minor to actually be listed. This would certainly curb the number of attributions being recorded.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
To whine and complain about Wexler for listing the other FY varieties while in the same breath you want Wexler to list your varieties comes across as a really arrogant, self-conceited total disregard of other submitters.
My primary function as a professional attributer is to accept an individual's package, who took the time, the money/fees involved in shipping their coin(s) for examination, attribution, photography, documenting and disseminating that pertinent variety information to collectors who maybe interested. Whether the variety submitted be major, minor or somewhere in-between is not a factor in consideration of a submitters coins and is totally beside the point.

To be honest with you, I don't even know what anything other than a 001 and 002 look like. I can not tell the difference between most of the little problem errors that have shown up. I most likely have hundreds of all of these things sitting in my closet because if it was not a 001 or 002 I did not pull it out and I have opened about 300 boxes of these things. I bet there are a lot of people who would love to look through what I have left behind.

them and a few with the hairline die crack on the reverse that runs from the "S" down to the top of Lincoln's head. There are a few more

I appreciate John Wexler's comments about the attributions and the time and money spent on getting them listed. I have a few
unknown (or at least unlisted) ddr's that I was going to send in, but Lyds does make a good point that the over-saturation
of these to the minutest detail can effect the future values or interest in the series overall. I believe, as it seems most of you do,
that there will be a few of these ddr's that will be the champions and the rest also-rans. I enjoy the hunt, so I will continue searching.
Hope all your searches are lucky ones.
