I still like early commems...

Even though most here dog them and laugh at how they are in the shat can, I still love them and have fun with them. Hell, most of you guys convinced me to jump ship and sell because I have less than MS67 coins. Glad I have not. IMO there isnt a better set to collect....no matter the grade.

I just had to get that off my chest. image

Here ya go. I want to see your best and here form the lovers and the haters!

  • I love them all!

    My Collection...
  • I think this series offers so much bang for your numismatic buck right now. And always.

You not only do you get a ton of history in each piece, you get a wide variety of beautiful designs. Some more so than others. Also, since they are often over looked, they are not a bad buy from price wise.

    Love 'em!
Great set to collect because it's (relatively) affordable in 63-64, except for a few.
And of course some are cheap even in 65+.
Some from my collection.....the BTW will look familiar to you, of course. image

  • This is a great thread.

I have a constant pull on my stomach - from coin-years of past - of all the 2009 Lincoln discussions. Here we have low-mintage, created for a specific reason commem, beautiful luster and colors, an actual history of the coin with sub 20,000 mintages graded at MS 66/67s....and the 2009 Lincoln gets the love of so many.

It's just a personal issue (of which I have many!!!!!), but commemoratives are just beautiful numismatic items compared to the modern coins being produced........

Even thought there are a half dozen dogs, I love the variety. After a few half hearted attempts in the 70's and 80's I am finally working seriously on a toned 50 piece collection, even to the point of sacrificing some of my other collecting interests. Happy to add this to the other grerat pieces!!!

I also like the early Commems but will probably never have a complete type set. So I set two goals that I've met, half the set ( have 30 halves ) and all 8 associated with the New England states.
