Dang... here I was thinking of maybe selling off my commems and moving on to something else... Now you guys probably snapped me out of it. I do love 'em.
Most have low mintage numbers. Most look good in gem but aren't terrible expensive until you get to superb gem... They have much variety so type collectors are in heaven. One of each type in a matched set of MS 65 coins is doable... What's not to like?
Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
I don't see the prices firming up at all. HA.com auctions prices show the Cincy lows, but otherwsie I don't see any upward pricing. I see the pluses on the bluesheet, but in reality the prices aren't moving.
Maybe I'm wrong...but anything more than paying top $ for a quality piece, prices are flat.
I have a constant pull on my stomach - from coin-years of past - of all the 2009 Lincoln discussions. Here we have low-mintage, created for a specific reason commem, beautiful luster and colors, an actual history of the coin with sub 20,000 mintages graded at MS 66/67s....and the 2009 Lincoln gets the love of so many.
It's just a personal issue (of which I have many!!!!!), but commemoratives are just beautiful numismatic items compared to the modern coins being produced........
I heard there was a Fat guy who might be a fan. I wonder if I got that right?
Commemdude: I always loved the juxtaposition of the Oregon Trail photos when the Indian is on the left and the settlers are on the right. It looks like the Indian is attempting to halt the westward expansion of the settlers. His hand is up as if saying halt. He is holding a bow - an implied threat. The settlers are leading their wagon west towards the setting sun.

Those are some sweet Oregons. For my money the best design in the series, here's mine.
