You seriously need to get a grip. Getting wound up over a potential $3 shipping charge to help a fellow collector out? Blowing a guy up for a mistake? Maybe I'm worshiping the wrong guy, since with a whopping 600 transactions you have yet to make a mistake. Well done!
Think about the guy who's waiting for his card - he's wondering what the heck happened to it. The seller has had to tell him (hopefully he's communicating with the other buyer) that it got sent to someone else by mistake. Let me repeat, BY MISTAKE. They happen. I've done it. Once it was pointed out I refunded immediately and the buyers in question were kind enough to work with me. I've also received someone else's cards a couple of times. No problem - contact the seller, get the correct address and forward them on. Didn't ask for compensation, but received it anyway. It's the right thing to do.

This is the line of the thread.. The OP complains about "overcharging" on shipping a few posts back, then goes into the EXACT reason why shipping IS $3...what am I talking about, this thread is the stupidest thread of the week.
I recieved another card one time. The seller contacted me first, so when it arrived I sent it forward the same day to the original buyer. I declined the sellers offer to send me the shipping and over a year and a half later I ended up bidding on another one of his cards. When the guy saw my bid he ended the auction and sent me the card before I even realized what happened. $40 card for $7 shipping, not bad.
This cheapskate was going to redeliver the card in a manilla envelope for 3 bucks. I guess when you are this stingy, bubble mailers are out of the question. Allen, Ill split the cost with you, the rightful owner dosent deserve this.

Print a postage label online and tape it on the bubble mailer over the old address label. Tape over the end of the bubble mailer where you opened it. Put it in your mailbox. Your mailman picks it up and takes it away.

You guys should be journalists! You are excellent at taking comments out of context. If I made the sale, those "extraneous" expenses are simply a part of "doing business". But when no sale is made, you had better believe Im going to recover my out of pocket expenses, ESPECIALLY when im covering for someone else's lack of attention to detail.
I should make this public at this time, just for the record. And remember, what im about to tell you happened well over a month ago and not a soul besides myself and fellow member AJW know. I was planning on keeping it that way, but feel the need to share so you can all see what a CHEAPSKATE I truly am.
You may remember that AJW read a thread about how I bought a sealed box of 1988 Fleer basketball, and how I noted that I needed to buy a set to divert any desire to bust the box. Well, a few days later (after requesting my address), AJW had sent me a full set at NO CHARGE. I was so grateful that I immediately put $60 worth of silver bullion into an envelope and sent it his way as a show of gratitude. That was 60 REAL dollars that I could have used to bail out idiots like the ebay seller in our above discussion. AJW didnt request anything, I wasnt under any "obligation". I did it cuz it was the right thing to do. Real cheapskate move, huh?
In this current scenario, the RIGHT thing to do was to let the seller know of his mistake.....CHECK. Arrange for a correction at HIS expense................................................................................CHECK. And to follow through on our arrangement............................................................................THE BALL IS IN HIS COURT!
The only thing you have all made me aware of is the fact that the proverbial "no good deed goes unpunished" is alive and well. The simple plain truth is that I would have had zero aggrivation had I just kept the card and not said a word. But no....I actually DO THE RIGHT THING.....and then get tied up and stoned by the residents of this forum. It was a good lesson, thank you all.
I've done the same thing when I received someone else's item.
The seller had no problem sending me $3 to forward to the correct buyer. The seller was smart enough to realize shipping at the Post Office is around $1.50 + PP fees + a little time to correct his error was worth $3.
I would not send the card until the money is received.
I've had this happen once to me. Won an auction (don't remember what it was) and item came and opened the box to find my cards and around 200 1975 Topps baseball cards and a few others. First reaction was to go and look at the completed auctions and found the other auction that the additional cards came from.
Longish story shortened, got the address of the gentleman that the cards belonged to and re-boxed the cards (added a few extras from my own collection to fill the box) and I traveled the 4 miles to the Post Office using my time, gas and postage and I did it for the grand sum of $0.00.
Seller and buyer had thanked me and that was plenty enough payment for me.
<< <i>Ill paypal you 1.50 to sent it to the rightful owner. Why are YOU overcharging for shipping? Oh yeah, whats your ebay id, you NEED blocked ASAP! >>

You p***** and moaned about being charged $3.00 for the shipping to you now you ask for a manilla envelope, gas money for the drive to PO. I'll PayPal you $4.00 to just go away and shut up.
Sounds to me like the OP just wanted to tell us what the view was like from his cross. I was in lock step with the OP with how he handled it until he went coo-coo-cachoo on the seller like he did. There's really no reason at all for that type of behavior. The OP knows this, but did it anyway. He then came here to tell us all what he did in an attempt to justify his actions.
When he didn't get the reactions he expected, he said, "I leave this guy an immediate positive feedback, and he has yet to leave one in return...that pissed me off a lil." Obviously, that comment had nothing to do with receiving a second package that was incorrectly shipped to him. It was just a feeble attempt to garner some support for his side of the issue and to justify his actions.
When "seller bashing exhibit A" didn't work, he furthered his cause by saying, "He charged me $3.00 for $1.15 postage and a #000 envelope!" Again, nothing to do with his original gripe, but instead more seller bashing to garner some support.
When THAT didn't work, he abandoned the idea of trying to get folks on his side and started attacking the folks who were trying to tell him that he was being unreasonable about the whole thing. "You are obviously an idiot based on your knee-jerk response." "Whats YOUR ebay ID so I can have a gander at the crap you are trying to sling?" Yikes.
Lost in all of this was one very truthful, accurate statement that he made. "Now Im the rude jackass."
Did this thread really happen? I am still a little woozie from the 3 Flexeril I took last night so not sure if this thread is just a boring dream or if it is real.
I get a card that doesnt belong to me. Im honest and immediately contact the seller. The seller acknowledges his mistake and offers to pay me to ship it on. I politely accept his offer and request the money to be sent to my account. He balks and doesnt reply for 2 days. I send another message, again asking for payment. Again, no response.
So I go out of my way to help this seller with his mix-up....he ignores my request, and now IM the bad guy? You guys have a funny way of thinking! >>
Did it ever dawn at you that he hasn't been able to check his email for a couple days for some reason. Just be patient, and hold the card until he contacts you...What's the big deal?
Gecko, you started off this thread with a question about being over the top? You got many responses, most that you didn't like. You want the truth? You can't handle the truth!
Son, we live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by men with a conscience. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Coin Man? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for the seller and curse the CU Message Board Members; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that the sellers mistake, while tragic, probably was an honest one and that our existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, helps fellow collectors. You don't want the truth because deep down in places you don't talk about at parties you want us here, you need us here. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of ebay's rules and then questions the manner in which we defend ours. I would rather you just said "thank you," and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a bubble mailer and do the right thing. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to.

<< <i>Ill paypal you 1.50 to sent it to the rightful owner. Why are YOU overcharging for shipping? Oh yeah, whats your ebay id, you NEED blocked ASAP! >>
Will you "paypal" me a manilla envelope also? Will you "paypal" me gas money for the drive to the post office? Will you "paypal" me the 30 minutes back of the time im going to waste for someone else's mistake? >>
>>
>>
So, what price would you put on all of these things? How much money would I need to PayPal you to send this card to its owner? Seriously, please put a number on it.
Also when you see those Nationwide commercials with the series of people doing little things to help others and generally make someones day a little better, do you sit there and yell at the television about how much you should charge for handing the child the stuffed animal he accidentally left behind on the ride?

This is the line of the thread.. The OP complains about "overcharging" on shipping a few posts back, then goes into the EXACT reason why shipping IS $3...what am I talking about, this thread is the stupidest thread of the week.

<< <i>I recieved another card one time.
Silly Canadian, should have waited for a 200.00 card for 7.00 bucks (should have negged him for charging 7.00 for shipping), and how dare u ship something without charging for it first.
<< <i>What a cool gesture, Trent - too bad it was wasted on a Canadian!

You p***** and moaned about being charged $3.00 for the shipping to you now you ask for a manilla envelope, gas money for the drive to PO. I'll PayPal you $4.00 to just go away and shut up.
<< <i>"Patience is a good thing" >>
A quality severely lacking in today's 'Me, Me, Me' generation.
Yes he is.
<< <i>Hmmmm...lets review.
<< <i>someday, we will all be dead and none of this will have mattered >>
