What is your current bar none least favorite coin series?

3 cent nickels are my least favorite. I don't care for the small size or design.

While we all like a person here who loves the series, my vote goes for the Ike dollar. The obverse is horrendous: an ugly bald guy in amazingly low relief on the largest production coin was a fabulously poor idea. Then they packaged them in those gawdawful brown boxes where they get that ghastly milky haze from longterm strorage in low-bid contract plastic.

I'll be the contrarian. I never liked Morgan Dollars. Never owned one other than as bullion (and one I keep as a memory of my grandmother, who gave it to me). The design never did anything for me.

I just never liked Morgan dollars. I have a few but only to have them. They didn't do anything for me.

Franklin Halves. I owned seven middle grade Uncs from the 50s. I thought they were so ugly, I just got rid of them so I wouldn't look at them any longer. Combine an unattracitve obverse with a reverse which is too busy.

If you want to create the ugliest coin in history, combine the Franklin Half obverse with the Eunice Shriver Dollar obverse. That coin should be sold with a barf-bag.

Funny thing, I was looking through my Red Book to see what my answer is, and I realized that I don't HATE any of the series. I AM awfully tired of almost all of the series we have in circulation. My first to axe would be the Roosevelt dime, followed by the Washie obverse. I love nickels, but strongly dislike Jeff's new portrait. We need a complete overhaul--not just changing reverses.

If I had to choose, I'd say the prezzie dollar series are the worst. The Ikes are just so bizarre and ugly, they make me kind of like 'em. Whenever I hold one, I feel like skipping it across a pond.

Many here already know my opinion that the Morgan dollar is by far the ugliest regular issue coin ever produced by the US mint. Combine that with the fact that one cannot help tripping over the darn stacks of them at any show and one rapidly comes to the conclusion that they should be banned.

I was going to say SBA's until I saw this post. He is right.

The only time in my life that I've actually recoiled in disgust when I've seen a coin design was the first time I saw one of the new Presidential dollars.

They look so cheap and cartoonish -- like the play money you get in a board game, or like my kids' Chuck E. Cheese tokens. What an embarrassment.

Every time I see a Roosevelt Dime the image of the mercury design comes to mind. What were they thinking and then having met the Rosie collectors at FUN luncheon in 2003 I found my answer.

Has to be the ugliest coin ever made for circulation with memorial cents a distant runner up.

To be honest didn't actually meet them, but they were all huddled together and you could tell they were the Roosevelt guys.

I guess I will be the first to say it - I REALLY don't like Buffalo nickels. I think the design is horrible, and messy looking. Even the mint state coins don't look (to me) like they are mint state.

Absolutely the worst coin ever: copper-pated zinc Lincoln cents. 95% of them should be dumped on France - melted and used to galvanize the Eiffel Tower.

Other least-favorite coin: Roosevelt Dimes. Turn the earlier ones into silver bars and round up the rest and lock them away in FDR's Social Security "Trust Fund".

The presidents' dollars followed by the Suzie B dollars.

I have been fascinated by the presidency for years and have purchased a few sets presidential tokens and medals. Yet this series of coins has some unbelievably ugly coins in it. In addition, there are some presidents who don’t deserve to be immortalized on a U.S. coin. Their time in office was marked by failure, dereliction of duty and outright dishonesty. Those who have studied history know who they are. Such people don’t deserve to be on a U.S. coin when others who were not president are not recognized.

The Suzie B. dollar was about a poltically correct as you could get, and I've had enough of the politically correct.

For me the Morgan Dollars followed closely by the Barber Half Dollars the designs just have never lit a fire. Have a few of each but still wonder why some times.

If the state quarters are added individually, the choices are overwhelming! Among regular issues, the Ike and Anthony dollars have to rate high for low art. Then there are the spaghetti hair versions of Washington and Lincoln.
