Morgans are big and plentiful and cheap. The design, artistically, is not much - Morgans 1876/77 half dollars were better.

Most of the current low relief designs...
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!

Many current day Americans may agree with this, good chunk of the population considers being seated a great effort over reclining.

It is awkward to say the least. The reverse gothic motto didn't fit with anything. The eagle was far from realistic or even flattering as the nation's symbol. The greatness of the design is what escapes most people. Morgan was a genius in understanding the minting of coins and medals. It is an old world commitment ot detail that people have largely lost in their capability toolsets. The design is practically ideally balanced in terms of flow under standard minting pressures. The sizes, locations, and depth profiles of all of the devices in the die come to the dance together and Morgan really had a great intuition into how to make them work together. He was the choreographer to the engraver. Dies did fail here and there. But considering the duty cycles of the die pairs in production, they held up astonsihingly well. There were tweaks in the beginning, but dome on the fly with that signature intuition.

    I like the Morgans.

The crispness of each strike is unmistakeable. Each letter appears as if it were "placed" on the coins surface with distinct separation between design element and surface.

If modern coins were produced that way, they might actually look a lot better instead of having the devices "melt" into the surface. Yuck.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

This is the sort of input that makes for solid insight for my thick head. Gotta love this place!

    Least favorite series--SBA's
    Least favorite reverse-roosevelt dime.
    Least favorite obverse-Ike dollar.
The rest of my least favorites list is anything with a portrait of a person on them.
However least favorite does mean that i hate them- (well maybe sba's,) they are just my least favorites. I will admit that i collect them all however, least favorite or not. Bob

Any Barbers - looks like either a cross dresser or a woman on steroids.

Not that being on steroids is a sin ....... but you know what I mean......

I always thought Liberty on the Peace dollar looked rather androgenous, like Miss Hathaway on the Beverly Hillbillies or David Bowie. The reverse is nice though.

Gold coins, less all the small California fractional gold coins, those are still cool to collect.

My most absolute detested coin is a toss up between

The Buffalo Nickel obverse is terrible, even UNC flat lifeless not much in the way of details

    or

The Ike dollar.... WTF where they thinking or drinking when they came up with that design? Put 20 of them in your pocket and go walk around, you will either sound like a junk dealer walking down the street or you will have to wear suspenders to keep your pants up from the weight of them in your pocket.
