That is over 10 years or something like that, actually from what I heard on the TV the Yanks payroll is less this year then last. Last yr it was 209 this yr (thus far) it is 200Mil.

or how it effects MLB in general I do know that I can no longer afford to go to a Yankee game.

Between 1995 and 2001 I had a season ticket plan. Beside pricing me out the new stadium will have 10,000 LESS seats.

And I don't want to sound like Yogi and say "Nobody goes there anymore because it's too crowded" - but I do believe that the Yankees will need to reduce ticket prices and other things because it will be too expensive, and attendance and revenue will decline if they don't reduce prices during this economic downturn, and so how are they gonna go about doing that and pay these exorbitant salaries at the same time? The bottom line is they can't. This isn't college economics here - this is 5th grade or less economics, and it's obvious that the Yankees management aren't smarter than a 5th grader.

I'm just commenting on the obvious - it's the Yankees management who are the fools.

Yea Steve, like no other "New York" companies haven't gotten in trouble lately, and even collapsed? If you think this can't happen to the Yankees in an economy that is crumbling, the way the Yankees are spending money like crazy, then you are indeed mistaken.

This is ridiculous. I think Yankees management knows what they can and can not afford. They are the ones with the numbers in front of them. Did anyone know that most tickets in the lower and even the middle sections are season ticket holders? And do you know to whom? Other companies, law firms, etc. Those seats are long paid for and Yankee stadium will continue to fill up. People will always buy Yankees products and its the biggest in the world. I highly doubt there is any danger of bankruptcy.
