new eBay user to block

jessewvujessewvu Posts: 5,078 ✭✭✭✭✭
e8ay_1

I'll post some of the reasons a little later but this guy is out of control. He has marked his feedback private and is doing some eBay extortion on me right now. Very unreasonable person...

Welcome. I found out how fun it was last week when I got a neg for $1.25 ancient coin I sold. The buyer said the package was ripped yet the coin was fine. I offered a full $5.25 refund lol and got a neg.

Private feedback is a pain in the butt however more information is needed on this "extortion" before this fellow gets blocked.

Before I block anybody, I need specific reasons, not just onesided here say.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

But e8ay_1 is not. More info, please. He only shows bidding on your coin in the last 30 days, including closed auctions.

I'll wait to hear more before I just jump the gun.

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Here is a little more on the issue. I sold a coin which had shipping listed as $6.55. I go on to explain how the shipping is calculated, $4.80 for Priority Mail, $1.75 for sig confirmation on orders over $250, again explained in the listing. (maybe I should just stop explaining how I charge shipping) Anyway, the coin sells for much lower than I expected and the signiture confirmation addition doesn't apply. The buyer buys the coin, pays for the item, and then I get this:

Are you an honest seller or what ?
Item was listed " charge only the actual shipping cost for USPS Priority mail, $4.80" but you over charge me. When I paid the invoice YOU charged me $6.55. This is A very tricky seller. You setup the tricky number, TRICKY WAY. I don't like to deal with a tricky seller, specially for the item of Gold. I want you refund my money ASAP before coming to dispute and feedback. REFUND MY MONEY asap !!!

I send him a very appologetic email explaining that I was expecting the coin to sell for more and that I would absolutely refund him the overpayment (thinking that is all he was asking for because he got a good deal on the coin). I went on to state that I would put some presidential dollars in the shipping box to cover the refund, and probably a few more because this was my fault, and I could probably set up the listing a little differently.

So, off to Church I go and I get this when I get home:

I send you email early about that you setup tricky way and over charged me shipping fee. I want my money back in FULL, not few dollars refund. Buying Gold, specially MS70 Gold, not way to deal with a not trustable seller. REFUND MY MONEY IN FULL ASAP BEFORE COMING TO DISPUTE AND FEEDBACK !!!

So, I immediatly refund his money through PayPal and send him another email asking what he would like me to do; send him another invoice or relist the coin. Crickets. He was all over me for the 12 hours I had his money but now he is ignoring me.

I don't know how many people here have ever purchased anything from me but I think I am 100% fair on shipping, if I ever charge more than what I pay, I usually put presidential dollars in the packages and I always print the shipping costs on every package I ship so the buyers know what I paid. And if anyone wants to look through my feedback, you will see where I have returned money and given extra items to people if they ever overpay on shipping, which is not very often but bound to happen on combined orders with calculated shipipng.

Maybe I am way out of touch with reality but this guys tone was all wrong with how accomodating I was trying to be. Bash away!

I did a quick look through my feedback and found a few comments that kind of back up my credibility here. It isn't like I am making up the part about not trying to make money on shipping charges.

Seems to me the seller is the problem here. The buyer pays for the coin and the seller never ships. Then when the seller is called on it, he crys on the boards.

Ship the guy his coin, scammer!!

This looks like a good case for blocking but it also looks like some serious failed communication. On both parties parts.

If he negs you, I'll block him but only then.

Ebay is working hard to prevent these problems in the future.. It's called FREE shipping.

Do I agree with Ebay??? No I don't. But it will be one less thing sellers have to deal with.

Are the prices paid on the BST so low that you feel it is worth the hassle of Ebay and PayPal?

Just curious. I have never had an issue on the BST. Except some wheaties I bought 4 weeks ago
    and still waiting...image

Simple shipping is best, either include it free (most buyers bid based on the total) or only state a flat rate instead of breaking it down.

It sounds like the buyer wanted out from the first email.
    Seems fair to block.

What a scam this seller is, trying to scam this poor guy out of an extra .875% profit.

Just kidding, the buyer sounds like one of those Nigerian email scams, anyone else notice that?

Every time someone tries to help the board with problems from buyers, it turns into a 100 post slam fest. I have had issues with buyers, but because of this, would never share them with this board (mostly getting slammed on the five point feedback, easy to tell from my meager sales, but hard to prove anyway).

Thanks for the heads up Jesse.
