Was at the National today and picked up 5 loose packs because I thought the Topps booth was doing the wrapper redemption thing. It turns out that Topps is the only major manufacturer not doing some sort of wrapper redemption program, but I got to open a few packs of A&G anyway. I think I did pretty well.

3 States (9, 40, 42)
1 jersey (Aramis Ramirez)
1 auto (Fausto Carmona)

I will just be doing the regular set 1 - 350 so any of the minis and others are available for trade. I also got the National Exclusive A&G minis of Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Jackie Robinson, Johnny Unitas, & Don Larsen/Yogi Berra that I am willing to trade if anyone is interested.

Okay, I'm really kicking myself now. Mind you, I didn't really know anything about vintage cards at the time this happened. About 5 years ago I was in one of those flea market stores. You know the kind you go to and find something in a booth with a number. There was a booth that had the A & G flags in a book. They were pasted in there, but I could have easily pulled them out. I'm kicking myself because I'm pretty sure they were the real deal and they only wanted $100 for the booklet. It had some old maps in there too.
Rube finding that card reminded me of this. I'm really mad at myself now!!!! I could have totally made some cool black bordered cards and inserted these into them.

Just kidding. But I do wish that I would have bought that book now. Oh well.

Colonel-I almost bid on another A&G relic card from you but once I saw it was you I did not bid- for some reason relic cards are not selling. could've bought 100 tonight for a buck each. Damn.

yeah i know mike, i got a ton of jersey and bat cards, only 5 autos out of of 2 cases though-i though the jersey and bat cards would go for more- some do, but some of those people i never even heard of, a air guitair champion/rock,paper,scissors champion,why? lol-get real-thats like a ernest t.bass from andy griffith on a rock throwing champion card-id like it more- or a jimi hendix/jim morrison dual auto card instead of some of the no name people in there that ive never heard of- i collect cards but dont watch sports- i know, im crazy,but it pays good

The relics aren't selling because of the over saturation in the market...it's nice to have multiple hits in a box, but at the expense of resale? I don't know. I mean, "World Greatest Victories" cards are harder to pull than a standard relic card.

Actually, out of 5 boxes, I pulled 4 "Victories" and 4 autos...that's sad.

I like those ratios, but i think the black mini sp is a little low.

1 Mini = 2 Regular size
1 Regular SP = 3 Minis
1 Mini SP = 3 Minis
1 A&G Mini = 2 Minis
1 A&G Mini SP = 6 Minis
1 Black Mini = 4 Minis
1 Black Mini SP = 20 Minis?

Team orange, aviation, airplane = 20 minis?
World Leader mini = 6 minis?
baseball icons = 10 minis?
ancient icons = 10 minis?

by the way, since the relics have minimal resale value, I am thinking I will break them out of their black case and insert them in my plastic sheets with the reset of my mini set. They really are minis, after all. I never collect the relics, but I've got so many after the 2 case break, i might as well go for it.

And on the same token as the post above, if anyone broke a couple boxes of 08 Bowman and wants to trade and build sets of the chrome and draft parallels let me know. I need a bunch and have a bunch to trade. This year's A&G is really fun. I've never done a board break/set build on here before - you guys are fantastic to build sets with. And on yet another note altogether, another board member and I were talking about buying a Cello box each of 81 Topps to build sets for ourselves and maybe come up with a few gradable cards and we figure Steve at BBCE will knock 10% off the $85 if we have 3-4 board members total who are interested in buying a box each. I would disagree with this. I got 5 Black SPs in my case and 0 NNOs. Through hobby boxes, I have 7 Black SPs and 1 NNO.
