wow, are you all still hoping for retail to be loaded? I have never done well with blasters on A&G. Maybe you know something I don't. Can you find
    wood and plates in retail?

Retail is a lot cheaper, I've already done my hobby case. Wood is a hobby exclusive, not sure on plstes. I think silks may be hobby only too. Too lazy to go check sell sheets. image

Last year's retail blasters seemed pretty loaded with relics and snake minis. I broke a few hobby boxes and didn't get one snake. Seemed like I was pulling a snake or emperor every other blaster. I'm hoping for a similarly unbalanced distro of world leader, icons, shark, and aerospace minis this year.

As for the "normal" retail boxes, it was a bit underhanded to do, but I liked to buy the thin packs because they ALWAYS had a base SP in them. Definitely helped to complete the set. Not much drawback to that either, since relics seemed evenly distro'd in fat and skinny packs. FYI, a fat pack had a Dick Perez card in it. Compared side by side, that pack was thicker than the "thin" pack.

Retail won't have rips and the distro of relics/autos is less, but they put just as many DNAs in retail as they do hobby.

I guess what I'm saying is, if you like minis and SPs, retail is a good way to go based on pack/box price.

And it wouldn't surprise me if more Phookadomes are pulled from retail, since it's packed later.

    Oh,
Guess I don't know. How can you tell. The box doesn't seem to differentiate between the two.

Must be the bat. Only 9 on ebay, but there are 39 Jerseys.

That sucks. I thought I had a tough pull.

I'm pretty set on purchasing a hobby case, but I think I'm going to wait awhile, see how many cut autos and 1 of 1 relics are left before I make the leap.

That's what happened with the last Washington hair relic in last year's product...it was pulled almost *a year* after product release.

For now, my blaster case will have to do. I doubt I'll see any major pulls this year.

edited to add the portion between *s

The Target manager said an independent company stocks the trading card section, and she has no idea when they do it, it's random. I'm sure it's random in Target's eyes, but the stocking company probably knows.

Just a random update: I threw my Matt Cain rip card on ebay with a BIN 74.99 and it sold in 3 minutes. Not bad methinks...

I might have to get a retail case with this new found wealth from the sale of the Cain. X )

Ginter is crazy. I have my Campy rip card up for what I thought was a very high price..200 bucks..I was looking to catch a nice offer on it..say 125....just
    sold for 200 BIN WOW

To update.....I spent 475 on 6 boxes....sold my one auto for 150 and one of the two rips for another 200...that is 350 back in two cards. CRAZY.

I busted my first case yesterday. I was going to do it box by box, but once I started ripping I couldn't stop, and when I was done I couldn't remember which cards came out of which box.

I got 2 rips, no Bazooka backs, no silks, 2 no number minis (a common player and Pluto) and a few good autos. A lot more hits than last year.
Many of my black minis and Ginter back minis were damaged, probably as many as half. The regular minis looked ok.

    Here are some highlights:

thanks, I was happy with it, except for all the damaged minis. The damage is like a roller mark or something, I don't know what you'd call it. They look like you laid the card on top of a pencil and pressed down really hard. The first pack I opened had a damaged black border A-Rod.

Ok here are the results of my 4 box buy off Paul. I first wanted to thank him for saving me a few boxes, he probably could of sold them elsewhere and
gotten more for them, but he stayed on the boards and helped up out. Top Notch.

    First Box had this:

    image
    I will probably rip this...hmm

the second through the forth box didn't have any ink, that's right..I went 4 boxes with no framed autos, no silks and no bazooka backs. I did pull these two:

    image
I'm probably the biggest Howard fan on the boards!

    image
    Nice to feel!!

I did pull 12 relics, one shark, one no number and a few other nice minis, but I was sans ink.....I had opened 10 boxes now with only one framed auto..OUCH....

then I opened the box toppers..

I called Lockwood today to ask about retail (I didnt pre order from him, just called wanting to get prices), and he told me that he'd probably have it Tuesday as his distributor was late in getting it to him. I tend to believe him because he knows I pick up from him in person, which makes trying to scam me impossible.

Strug relic and a Howard N43... nice! I'd have a tough time ripping the Felix, given that I'm a Mariners fan, but who knows what's hiding under there... I'm sure some red ink would take off any regret of ripping...

... I hope to pull a Strug relic at some point. I've had a crush on her since the 96 Olympics... and hey, she wasn't jailbait like the rest of the team *grin*

Thanks Nick. I've dealt with him a lot in the past, perhaps he's just under the gun because of his distributor.
