$10K to spend

If you had up to $10K to spend on a single U.S. coin, what would you spend it on?

Something I could immediately sell for at least $10K. Then I'd take the money and put it toward something more important to me than a coin. image

10K is a lot of money to me and i cannot imagine spending it on a coin or a few coins
right now. Everything is priced to high and i do not see good value in 5000 dollar coins
that used to be 2000 seven years ago.

on a different scale, coins that i used to buy for 145 are now 280... just due to the price
of gold. coins that have more numismatic value went up even more!

Stretch a little more and get this?

Personally, I would feel a little uncomfortable paying 110,000X face value for this.

I'd spend it on scratch off lottery tickets with hopes I could win enough for this! image

I wouldn't buy any coin yet. I'd wait until the next coin bear market comes around and dealers need to sell lots of product to generate cash. It's coming, but I don't know when.

Sadly, in the present market $10K won't buy the coins I really need to complete my type set in AU. image Heck, it's not even a downpayment.

    Here's the short list:

    1796-7 half dollar
    1796 No Stars Quarter Eagle
    Larage Size quarter eagle 1821-7
    Reduced size half eagle 1829 - 1834

The only "cheap" classic type coin I need is a No Motto Seated Liberty half dollar. I've seen very little on the market in PR or MS-64 that was nice.

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

Multiple pre 1803 coins in certified vg8-f15. I would not park it in a single coin. Much harder to find buyers for 10k coins verse coins under 1000 or 500 dollars

Either a 1915 or 1936 assay commission medal. Of course, 10K might not be enough, and who knows when one will come available. Or maybe a not-so-high-grade Columbia & Washington medal. Same issue, though.

Why would you do that? The OP doesn't require a coin purchase with the $10K.
