They talked about Hamilton in the triple crown race today. Said he might still have the RBI lead at the end of the season but that would be it. Why didn't they talk about Pujols?

That injury he sustained this evening didn't look pretty...

No, the injury last night did not look good. They will be re-evaluating it today.

Now, to the Pujols hatters on this board - everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is fine. I am entitled to mine as well. I do have a pair of Pujols gloves as my avatar. I do have a picture of a HR swing in my signature line. I have been a Cardinals fan since I was 7 years old in 1982. I happen to have Fox Sports Midwest and can watch nearly every Cardinals game. That means I get to watch Albert Pujols on a nightly basis. The bottom line is that I enjoy watching him play baseball because he is one of the best, but you will not find me worshiping the ground he walks on, or making a god out of him, or asking him out on a date because of some sort of man crush, or taking up for him against every negative thing said about him.

Having said that, I just want to do address the comparison of Albert Pujols to Albert Belle. If you will got to baseball-reference.com, and look at the comparison charts, you will not find Albert Belle on that list. In fact, you will find the best players of all time. Here is the order in the list of comparable players to Pujols in order up to the age of 27 -

    1 - Joe Dimaggio
    2 - Jimmie Foxx
    3 - Frank Robinson
    4 - Ken Griffey, Jr
    5 - Hank Aaron
    6 - Mickey Mantle
    7 - Hal Trosky
    8 - Vladimir Guerrero
    9 - Lou Gehrig
    10 - Orlando Cepeda

    Not bad company.

Excellent point...that link shows comparable players during their peak years. Look at Orlando's final 10 yeras and you will get the point about longevity. Pujols is the greatest player of the decade, there is no arguing that. The thing is, can he do it for 20 years...i hope so, but history hasn't been written yet on him, and his cards are still overpriced. If he puts up numbers like he did for the next 7 years that he did for the first 7 years, then his cards may get to where they once were, but that is a BIG IF.
