Thanks for showing up and giving some insight on your current situation. Sorry to hear about your job and on behalf of everyone, hope another opportunity quickly comes your way.
Wishing you and your family the best.
Barry
Having said that, I've requested a refund. However, I hope others decide to keep the club going and look forward to scans.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
I recently found out that I also lost my job (you may remember that I mentioned that my wife had lost her job as well)....needless to say things are not great here in the ArnyVee household.
Please have everyone that I have not sent a gift send me a birthday refund request and I'll take care of them.
I wish that the circumstances could've been better because I really intended for this to be a fun thing to do which turned sour due to unforseen circumstances.
Please send this note (or paste it on the boards in the birthday thread) to the folks so that they know to contact me directly.
Thanks for your help Brian!
Talk to you later.
Arnold"
I've also requested a refund as well. I would post on the boards and email him as well (ARNYVEE@AOL.COM) Brian
Refund requested - Arny, not sure if you have time to check the boards, but if you do, I'm very sorry for your recent difficulties. I wish you all the best and hope you land on your feet quickly.
Thanks for the communication Arny. I have sent a money request through Pay Pal for $100.00. As noted I am willing to eat the fees (both ways). Hope things turn better for you.
Clear Skies, Mark

It really is past annoying that Arny steps in and makes promises every few weeks, but when it comes down to it, we are still pretty much all out. I am not knocking Arny, I know his situation is crap and I feel bad for him, but I get tired of the promising replies that he posts, then disappears for a few weeks. We started sending the requests for refunds a few days ago....and nothing. It would take 10 minutes max to send everyone back their money...at this point, I would say just leave his address on here so we can all take it up with him as we see fit.
I agree. Things happen, but he is holding (or was holding) our money and he shouldn't of touched it for any other reason other than the bday club. I don't want to imply that he used the funds for personal reasons, but yes, this should be a 10-15min turnaround to refund all of us the money.
I fear this is going to get much worse before it gets better. I have been in a pinch before and I had to sell some of my favorite cards, but thats what you do, family comes before cards. Arny it may be time to start selling some 84 Donruss or something else but get the members their money it is not yours and do it fast don't make this any worse on yourself..
Hey guys, I rec'd my B-day club card about 3 weeks ago from Arny. It was a '61 Clemente #388 PSA 7. I guess I should feel lucky. While I wouldn't call it a strong 7, nonetheless it's a 7 and I'm not out $105. I had sent him a PM a couple of months ago requesting a refund if it would make things easier. I just had a feeling this thing was going sour since my b-day was Dec. 28 and I hadn't rec'd anything as of mid-March. I hope everything works out for everyone but I have learned my lesson.
yeah this really does suck i would like his address myself would someone please send it to me or post it on here...i am really sick of this guys promises and never returning emails...i have a few friends who live in tampa and i does visit there once in awhile so if anyone could give me this guys info i would appreciate it...this guy has some stuff in registry sets so if you have to sell it to pay us back then thats what you should do.. this asking for us to send him emails and he doesnt pay is a bunch of bull ...
<< <i>Can i ask a question? Why does anyone have to request a refund? doesn't he have a list of who he would owe?
Steve >>
Good question Steve. I can only add I requested a refund yesterday and have not got it yet.

With proper documentation, and this thread printed in its entirety, he could be in some big trouble. Has anyone thought about contacting his local PD and see what they say? I don't wanna jump the gun here, but this looks like a big pile of you know what and it doesn't look like it will get resolved nicely......
I'm thinking the window has passed for anything to be considered "jumping the gun." I think you all should start whatever process you need to make sure you get refunds. Unfortunately it appears he will not be doing the right thing on his own. He could have refunded everybody quite easily already, and without any email or PM "reminders." I would be surprised if he hasn't been monitoring this thread. With all the commotion going on, you think he hasn't stopped in here ONCE? If he really has lost his job, that makes even more time for him to do what he needs to refund your money. I think if he intended to refund the money he would have done it right after posting his last response. I hope everything works out for you guys.
yes thats what he took...this guy doesnt care about anyone or he would have at least try to get ahold of us or return our ims or email us...i myself am done with this guy and no more excuses for him...i think every member he has screwed should file a police report and we can take this to the next level...thanks to all others who have tried to help...this is bad....
yes, Mike, that's pretty much the long & short of it. I'm still trying to keep the faith that Arny is in a really tough spot, and will come through with our refunds and a sincere apology. I've got a strong feeling, though, that this will be the final nail in the coffin of any kind of group collaboration that involves one guy collecting a large amount of money and taking sole responsibility for distributing packs, boxes, cases, etc. It's a shame that it happened like this. Arny had a pretty darn good rep here, and again, I'm still willing to extend friendship and forgiveness, provided that he makes financial restitution to us soon (like any minute) and comes on here and makes a strong apology. Arny, if you are lurking here and reading what's being posted, do the right thing. We all know you're in a tough spot and wish you the best, but you're not making it any easier on yourself by procrastinating.
rather than everyone paying $5 per transaction (21X), have one person handle one purchase per year, i.e. paypal or send a check or purchase a card on ebay for $105. that would make it easier for you since I would hate to think how it would be tracking down 20 people 21 times a year.>>>
This is a pm I sent to Arny when this thing started. Similar to what Storm says above. Arny rejected the idea. I hate to sound cynical but one has to wonder why he wanted to handle the $$ and I wonder how many cards he has purchased since the money was sent. He received at least $2100 and bought 5 or 6 cards. He has roughly $1500 of our money. That should be a relatively easy amount to refund given the sets he has on the registry.

mike i have learned one thing in life is that everyone is good until they go bad...now i didnt know this guy like you guys did but to avoid us and make some bs about sending him emails is a bunch of bull...he knows who he bought for and who he didnt...no more excuses for this guy he has had plenty of time to reply...thats my thought im sorry i am just not happy about this...

Are you telling me that close to 20 people sent him 100 bucks - or over 2 grand?
Don't know about this - Arny's a really good guy - this is disappointing.
Did he say he no longer has the money or what?
Just curious.
mike
NO money trades hands with a "gatekeeper."
Each player draws a name, and on the selected-name's birthday,
the player simply buys the gift.
There really seems no need for a person to hold aggregated monies.
A shame this has happened.

I believe Arny's a good guy and has been caught in a bind right now.
For those who have requested a refund? I hope he makes good really soon.
If he and his wife have lost their jobs? Well, we all know - the money he put away may have been spent?
We can all understand that - and I know Arny will make good.
Just give him a chance.
