I'm kinda wanting to get my $108.00 back too (I gave him extra to cover paypal costs). It's only been about a month since my birthday, but I could've purchased a bunch of unopened packs at the local shows by now....

I offered as well and have not heard anything back. With so many gifts being late you would think that the more help you have the better.

I am also for refunding money. I am even willing to take a Pay Pal loss, there has been several 1984 Topps USFL Steve Young PSA 8's the last month for $100 or less....image

Bump....and agree on the refund. I am nearly 3 1/2 months late on getting a B-Day USPS surprise from Arny, as well. I have sent a few PM's to Arny with offers to help over the last 2-3 weeks and have heard nothing. The only updates most of us have seen have been the occasional postings by Arny. I am not saying that Arny can't be trusted, but this is a daunting task for anyone...and if eBay is the main source for acquiring B-Day items, there is a chance we are bidding against Arny in trying to acquire the items we want.

Any agreement to see if we can start getting refunds and get our names pulled of the Birthday Club list??

    80sJunkie,
You are a total tool and an A-Hole. I guess you enjoy ripping people off and seeing other people run into issues on these boards. There's probably a good explanation by arny, but I'm just not feeling the vibes on this deal.

    Nadda....

Being that it is past 90 days, I believe we are also skrued on getting a credit card charge back...I think the limit is 90 days. If it is 180, then we may have an option.

My math may be off, but it seems like 20 people paid $105 ($2100.00) and only 6 people (5 shipped) have items bought for them per the first post.

I have only seen confirmation that 3 have received their gifts. And one of the three doesn't seem proud enough to share it?

Hey Matt, did you get your gift as it was marked shipped a couple weeks ago?

I am a very patient person, but no one is getting their gifts and we are not getting any communication. So with the risk of Nam calling us a mob again....I am starting to get worried.

Very surprising to me, to be honest. Not many board members would have been cut this much slack.

My thoughts exactly. I know many on this board have considered Arny vee a friend and a stand up guy in the past, which I have no doubt was the case. However his lack of communication is unacceptable. I don't feel this birthday club is as hard of a task as others on here have mentioned, but I am not in Arny vee's shoes so maybe he did bite off more than he can chew, only he can say. I can accept this, what I can not accept his is lack of communication. He does not deserve everyones excuses for the way this project has turned out. I have a bad feeling that our money may be long gone and that is part of the reason we have not heard from Arny vee. I have no proof , only a theory on my part. It is a shame that this has not worked out, I think most of us who were involved in the Christmas exchange that Lawnmowerman set up felt it was a huge success and I think we all thought this project would bring more of the same. Just my two cents.

A simple reply to one or a few of us would be nice. I know he was going through some tough times with his wife being laid off, but not replying to anyone in a few weeks doesn't cut it (I can tell you that I'm going through a rougher time, but I haven't flaked on anyone during this time- divorce, found out dad has liver cancer, house being robbed...). For me, all he has to do is refund my money and just tell me that he was over his head with this idea and I'd be ok with that. I sent him an email this afternoon and shooting off a certified letter to him tomorrow regarding this situation (hopefully the address he gave me when this all started is still ok).

You all are being very patient in my opinion, and my picture was meant more like "go get him boys" rather than saying why are you guys forming a mob. Arny still could come through here, and has been afforded a wide berth, but it's time to just say more than just a few token words to the masses. I'm sure that a $2,100 interest free loan was not the purpose of this thread.

I don't think that was his intention either, but come on man Arny needs to step up and be accounted for. I would not be afforded this luxury of taking others money and not producing. Others on this board would be crucified if they did this.

I have to agree that we were more patient and understanding through this whole process than, in hindsight, we probably should have been.

But, it is time to sort it out, get people their stuff (whether money, cards or both) and move on.

Something is not quite right here.... there is more then meets the eye.... i think arny has some seriously important or hard stuff going on in his life and for some reason cant make it on here. He is going to sell me some cards but he has not been around to talk about how much i will owe him...... if he was so hard up for money he would be selling his stuff big time. Arny must be under some serious distress

On April 1st, arny gave me 4 names to shop for, which I've since saved in my searches.

I then requested, again, that he PayPal me the money rather than him paying for the item(s).

Not a word since and I'm not going to bid until we get this settled.

edited to add my last PM to him:

    << <i>Sounds good.

As a side note, I do think it would be better to PayPal the amount needed to cover whomever they are buying for. Think it will ease any concerns and some hypotheticals that have been thrown my way.

Like I said, I'll gladly eat whatever the fees are (like $12, right?). >>

stown what bothers me is that at least you got an email back from this guy..i emailed him at least 3 times prior to that about some racks he wanted...now mind you they were very cheap but i havent heard a peep ...i also offered to help...if i was you i think you are making a wise move not to buy anything until you get paid for it..i think the damage has already been done and why wouldnt he paypal you the money to buy the gifts? he already had it from us..

I also was given 4 names to shop for on April 1st. I'm not comfortable bidding with Arny paying. If he forwards the money to me for the 4 names I've been given, I will make purchases and get the gifts out there. I, too, am willing to eat the fees in order to make this work.

For everyone who paid in the $105, there would be $101.65 after fees per person. If Arny sends me the $406.60 for the 4 people who's names I was given, I would be happy to eat the $12.09 in fees. We need to move forward or return everyones' money that hasn't been accounted for yet.

As someone mentioned earlier, I don't think his intent was malicious... Hypothetically speaking, if the money has somehow evolved into a loan, I think it needs to be distributed within a timely manner. I hope this isn't the case, though.

Which reminds me of a story. In one of my fantasy leagues, the treasurer was a stand up guy. We had to pay up front and he held onto the cash. During a random, drunk conversation, someone asked where the money was. He was honest and said a little was used to cover some of his rent and wouldn't be able to pay out the winner, if needed, at that moment. It wasn't fair to everyone else to essentially give him a free loan and he understood with little arguement.

With no hard feelings, all of the money was transferred to someone else within a week.

I feel compelled to add my voice to the proceedings, if merely to echo others' concerns. Since my slot is 2nd to last, I was going to remain patient and have faith that everything would work itself out by the time October rolled around. However, it is high time that the group at large receive some answers to some long-asked questions. Arny, if you are having issues that are demanding your time, then it is time you come forth with some sort of explanation to the group. This doesn't necessarily need to be done in this public thread, but at least through PM to each of us. It has been said that you have received more of the benefit of the doubt than many others would have been entitled, but I think that benefit has been exceeded.

I'm pretty sure you'll find us to be compassionate about whatever is going on, short of another scam. Whatever is going on, I think we are due an explanation.

So far, no responses to my multiple paypal refund requests, emails nor PM's. I didn't have a chance to send out the registered letter to Arny today, but will do first thing tomorrow morning and will post my tracking number to see if he signs for it.
