Guys and gals,

With Randy's birthday wishes thread out there, I was thinkin'......

Why don't we start a little birthday club sorta thing? This way, when it's someone's birthday we all pitch in a couple of dollars (maybe up to $5 each?) and pick something up nice for their set(s) or player of choice.

For example.....we could start with Randy and everyone (let's assume 15 people pitch in at $5 each which = $75) does their part and we pick something off of eBay (or another seller here on the boards) for his Bowman set.

Now, we are not just giving each other birthday wishes, but we are actually contributing to the completion of everyone's sets!

Looks like we are getting this thing together. I'm compiling the list and I can help in organizing it. I think it's a cool concept and figure that we can help some fellow collectors out there.

I think this could work and am interested in joining. I think you would have to set a maximum number of people who want to participate, that way you would know exactly whose birthdays to celebrate. I would make it that each member has to stay in the birthday club until everyone has received a gift, this would prevent someone from quiting after they have received their gift and not chipped in for other gifts. You could also have a waiting list if you have more than the maximum amount of people who want to join. Just my thoughts.

I think that by setting a total max number of participants, it would help.

Let's say 21. That way, if we put out $5 a piece it would be $100 for the year. And, you'd end up with a $100 card for your favorite set(s).

We could start an unofficial official list and see where it goes from there. I'll post it on the initial post.

I'd like to join. Whoever collects all of the money would lose a lot of paypal fees though. We would have to send a little extra to cover that, say $5.50 total or something.

I would like to do this too! I think it will help ALOT if everyone participating had a PayPal account, so they could just transfer the $5 each B-Day to whomever is deemed the "treasurer", instead of mailing it each time and having to wait around for all of the payments to show up. It would also be cool to have the final participants list posted with their B-Days as well as what they collect so everyone could be searching the bay for something around their B-Day. Also, is there some sort of chat room where all of us could go to decide on what gift to buy for each B-Day? I really like this idea!!

It's much easier for me to send $5+ now and then as opposed to $100+ at one time due to my budget but I would always cover the paypal fees.

Unfortunately, you're right. It's okay, though, since I only have one sibling and her birthday is December 29th. We like to call ourselves living tax breaks.

It's okay, though...I take every opportunity I get to remind my mother that I'm the best Christmas present she ever got.
