I quit. "ok so I dont quit completely"
Well, today marks a new experience for me. I had put all my worthwhile stuff in a small metal case and was going to the bank after my Dr. appointment. I left my truck parked outside at my doctors office with the case on the rear floor. Doors locked. alarm set. After about 20 minutes of waiting I went outside to get my glasses and .............. its gone. Everything is gone. Truck, my ASE's ,my one and only AGE, $185.00 face 90% silver. My Garrett Ace 250 detector, tool box. EVERTHING.
At least I had taken my pistol in the house last night.
So for now, I will just lurk here and mess around on ebay for a while till I recover a little.
Dont know what else to say except . Protect your stuff.

Good luck, maybe the thief was so cracked out they won't realize all that other stuff in the truck. Best wishes.

Hope your's is a better ending. "Stuff" can be replaced. Who's to say how this would've played out if you had been in the truck - carjacking, gun in the face,........?
It is hard to see now, but you might've actually been lucky.
your address I'll send it to you.

<< <i>You should be thankful no one got hurt. All that stuff can be replaced >>
I know that platitude is well-meaning, but after about the 10th time I heard it when I got hit all it did was piss me off. I'd be thankful if the scumbag that did this to him got hurt - as in dead.

Hopefully the police will find everything in tact. Will your insurance cover any of this? I think homeowners insurance might cover theft of personal stuff from your car.

State Farm informed me if you don't have a supplemental policy for Collections they are not covered. At least under my standard policy they weren't.
Having had my vehicle stolen a couple days before Christmas 2006 (full of gifts) I know the feeling. It is one of utter disbelief... at least for me it was.
Hopefully you'll at least get the vehicle back.
I have an ASE for you too, just PM me and it's yours, from one collector to another.
There was a horrible house explosion today from natural gas, in the Pittsburgh area. A grandfather was taking care of his 4 year old granddaughter when it blew. Grandpa is dead, the 4 year old injured but will be okay by the grace of God. Terrible. So although you lost material things, I'm grateful like others mentioned, that you weren't injured by some crazy crackhead. God bless.
And PM me, I'm serious about the eagle!
Edited to add - I agree with what Russ said - that bugger needs to pay dearly. Our home was robbed many years ago and I know the sick feeling of someone taking what you worked your *ss off for. He eventually did so much crime, by the time he was caught he served 10 years in state pen... not enough in our book.
The old saying, "What goes around, comes around" isn't an old saying merely by Happenstance. Call it Kharma - call it whatever you like, but in Time, eventually, somehow/ some day ... he WILL get his.
With this being said and you stating that everything was locked, that your truck has an alarm AND that everything was in a metal Box, in the rear of your Truck, I also agree that this smells of an inside job. Someone that not only knows your business but apparently has access to your keys and may have made a spare set would be where I'd start.
Any people you hire and trust enough to Welcome into your Home would be where I'd start.
If it's any help at all, I also would like to help buffer the pain of some of your loss by offering some ASEs or something.
PM me and Good Luck. Just think about this for a while. Anybody fit that bill?
Regards,
Boom
As usual - edited for spelling corrections
One more thing, BTW. Remove your Name and personal info from World View. It's a good place to start. Sad but True!
Please PM me your address and I'll send you an SAE too.
All the offers are very kind. Thanks guys.
My insurace (State Farm) wont cover my coins or my truck because I didnt have full coverage.
The local LEOs might have a suspect but I have a feeling my truck is in the lake somewhere or late tonight it will make a nice bonfire.
I just wish I had been more observant and carrying my pistol when they took my truck. I HATE a thief.
You guys here are the greatest bunch of guys Ive known in many years.
I hope to be in a position to return the kindness someday soon.
PM me and I will try to fill in an ASE date not already provided (is this a "family" or what!!). What goes around, comes around......
Don't be shy, guy - we'll feel better and you'll feel better. Please PM me - I will be repaid sometime in the future by some other twist of fate, there is no doubt.
PM me your address I would like to send you something also.
<< <i>Ouch!! This sounds like an inside job. Any teenagers in the family aware of your plans? >>
Yeah. How'd they bypass the alarm?
Sorry to hear about your loss. I'm more and more nervous about having stuff in the house. If anything comes out of your loss, it's a reminder to all of us to be careful.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
Sorry to hear about it brother, but you can gain some matter of satisfaction by knowing that those types of people generally lead a miserable life. Being a thief is hard work for little pay. A life of jail houses, welfare, fights, and a wretched old age awaits them.
I hope I've got my profile set up to where you can get email me back. If not, let me know through the forum. I do want to help.
<< <i> I have had my car stolen before, and you stand ther for what seems like days, looking in places you KNOW your car wasnt parked, then you finally realize its gone. That does suck, and you got my deepest sympathies, man!!! >>
I've had this happen before, thats the worst feeling. I hope you get everything back.
<< <i>Shoulda went to the bank first.
Ray >>
Exactly!! If you are leaving coins, go to the bank first -- if taking them out, go to the bank last, and by all means don't leave the coins unattended.
