  • Just waiting on Steve's "approval" to end this.

Personally, I think that Buccaneer owes me an apology for calling my inteeligence into this conversation, but that wont happen either.

Steve's probably on the phone with someone trying to get me banned like the others. I'm not worried about it, I've violated no PSA policies.

    Steve... we done?

Wow... sorry all, I was just trying to bring to light some odd bidding I had observed. Since I noticed several familiar bidders
on many of the other items, I thought it would be a good idea to warn folks. Thread went *poof* indeed... so I'll take what
    can to taken from it.

-1 for trying to watch other's backs I guess. Not a big deal... I won't do it again I guess... at least, not here.

ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!

One fast it had nothing to do with what you said. It had more to do with what someone else had said about
someone else within your thread that I was warning people about.

For that I was ridiculed and the next time I won't give out advice.

    Steve

    Good for you.

Instead of waiting for Steve to give you the approval to be "done", why don't you just stand up from your computer, walk away and take a break? I'm thinking it will be done once one of you stops posting in the thread. As most of these types of threads do, it started out innocently, a comment was taken out of context, and the next thing we know two members are duking it out, some are pouring kerosene on the fire and the rest of us are eating popcorn. Give it a rest already.

  • Yay! Something new that's my fault!

I will not walk away until Steve says it's over. Otherwise he'll just keep on and keep on till he's satisfied. That's the way his posts are.

So, I'll wal away as soon as Mr. Pitcher says it's done.

I was taking your side Tekno but I may have to switch allegiences if you post Teknobaby dribble like this. MOVE ON to the next thread. Seriously, it's played out on this one.

All he's gotta do is say it's done and it's done.

This has nothing to do with Teknobailey. This time around I admitted my mistake and apologized and I want confirmation from Steve that it's over, that's all. Then we can all go out and waste our money on more cardboard.

In a perpetual closed-loop feud, the Duelists generally don't menace anyone but each other, unless, of course, another Warrior foolishly attempts to mediate. Like the Hatfields and McCoys, they probably don't even remember the source of their mutual animus, nonetheless they enthusiastically loathe one another and seize every opportunity to exchange vitriol. When the other Warriors eventually weary of their endless kvetching the Duelists will be shouted down or Nanny will ban them. Even after getting the heave-ho from one forum, however, it is not unusual for them to find each other in another discussion group and the fighting will begin anew. Hate is sometimes as mysterious as love...

For Tireless Rebutter there is no such thing as a trivial dispute. He regards all challenges as barbarians at the gates. His unflagging tenacity in making his points numbs and eventually wears down the opposition. Confident that his arguments are sound, Tireless Rebutter can't understand why he is universally loathed.

As I tried to gently impart in my single response to
    the poofed thread:

There was NOTHING wrong with the cited auctions.

When you think that there is that kind of problem in
an auction, it is best to look DEEP into the history
    of the bidder. I did that. I found ZERO problem;
just a guy that buys too many cards from too many
    sellers, for too much money.

It is proper to do good detective work, before trying to
make a case in the real world. Here, that work needs to
be done before posting allegations --- even if they are
    in the form of questions.

Further, and importantly, there was no need to drag
    other vendors into the discussion.

  • With the upcoming changes regarding Ebay's feedback system sellers like those will be left numerous negative feedbacks with no recourse. I love the new change.

    Yup.

Now, buyers will be able to wrongfully defame sellers with impunity.

And, EBAY will not poof the damaging comments.

    Steve

    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////

They do not have to file a complaint to leave the NEG.
    They can simply write:

    "I think the guy blahblahblah."

The seller can gripe to EBAY all he/she wants to; the
    NEG will remain.

My question was they still have to win the auction in order to leave
the feedback? ( that goes w/o saying)

In many cases when shilled people stop bidding.

So in essence they will leave negatives when they feel they have been shilled (and win the auction) or at worse
if they are honestly run up by other bidders.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • Wouldnt you know before you win (in most circumstances) if you've been shilled BEFORE the auction ends?

    //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Yup.

Buyers will leave NEGs for any reason AND no reason.

"Feeling" you have been shilled IS miles apart from
    having actually "been" shilled.

MANY buyers become convinced they were shilled, simply
because they followed EBAY's self-serving instructions:
"Enter Your Maximum Bid." Those buyers are destined
to get run-up, and they will leave NEGs stating they were
    "shilled."

  • I got a feeling UPIs are going to go through the roof as well when the new system hits.

That might be what it takes to get Ebay to wake up though start hitting them in the pocketbook

Use the shill word with care.

As stated before, some of use remeber sellers that actually lawyered up and went after people who posted
unfounded or unprovable accusations that effected their business.

And they wont care that you are a pimple faced 20 year old posting from your dads computer (although dad might).

Looks like someone else may be getting a letter that requires their signature.

  • I feel I was shilled last night and will not be bidding on the sellers auctions again, or will be bidding less, or just snipe.

Bottom line, it gave me a bad taste, and the seller, who I have purchased several dozen cards from, lost future money from me because of it. If you are a big selller, I would suggest blocking the bidder or you will likely lose sales from me as well.

What does this have to do with a shill bid? If they are bidding on other sellers items then chances are they are not a shill bidder.
  • Fair enough Leia. Shill was perhaps not the correct word. How about this instead, I feel I was ripped off a few dollars last night and if you are a seller and allow someone to bid on your auctions and do such, when they are NOT trying or wanting to win an item, then I will not be bidding on your auctions.....or as noted, will adjust my bidding habits.

The problem here is the original thread yesterday mentioned one specific seller.

Then someone else derailed the thread by adding a host of other sellers.

It is those 'other' sellers where all the BS came from.

    Steve
    Good for you.
  • How is a seller to know that any bid that is placed is placed with the intent of never paying? The only way to bid is to snipe any other way you are asking for trouble.

Ummm maybe because they (or a friend) are the ones placing the bid?

Isn't that what a shill is?
