I've been doing some trading, and here are the numbers I've been using as a guide:
1 Mini = 2 Regular
1 Regular SP = 3 Minis
1 Mini SP = 3 Minis 1 A&G Mini = 2 Minis 1 A&G Mini SP = 6 Minis 1 Black Mini = 4 Minis 1 Black Mini SP = 10 Minis
It's pretty simple math from there. For instance, 1 black mini SP would = 5 A&G minis (10/2)
I haven't been handling enough inserts (flags, snakes, relics, etc) to really get a good number on trading. Of course, stars will fudge the numbers a bit.

For my birthday, I ripped two hobby boxes and two retail blasters of 2007 A&G.
As you can see from the results below, I had almost zero "mojo." Both hobby boxes matched the printed promises, but they also yielded GU and autos from the most prolific groups. The blasters were uneventful, apart from one which had a couple packs double-stuffed with minis, resulting in a new white no-# for my collection.
I'm building the set, so I'm not terribly disappointed. However, I know a lot of folks on this and other boards that will see this break and go "OUCH!"
Oh yeah, I ended up with a bunch of duplicate SPs. I'll be putting together a trade list soon.

So far, I've done a pretty good job of staying the bloody hell away from this year's set. It's for my own good. I've had just one moment of weakness. When I was in Target the other day, I saw they had a dozen or so loose packs left, and I scooped 'em up. I didn't get any big hits (go figure), but it was fun to finally give in a little. I really like that they included some players from the Negro Leagues, and if I can just pick up all of those from the base set, I'll be satisfied with that... I think.

Kurt - I was just thinking about a TTM Jack the Ripper card a few days ago. My solution is to find some random dude named Jack Ripper, hopefully a guy affiliated with a baseball team.
Reading these busts really makes me a bit upset at the hot case posts I have been reading. Nice to have 24 AUTOS in a case, but maybe 1 or 2 relics in a Retail case. Not sour grapes, just not right by Topps. For goodness sakes, they have all freaking year to prepare and have that kind of collation?

Ha! Thanks for the offer of assistance, but I won't be scaling a second mountain anytime soon. I'm not even halfway up the first one yet. I almost wish I could start another one just so I could take advantage of all that I've learned the hard way the first time around, but there's no way I can take it on. That said, I do want to get hold of the cards of the Negro League players from the 2007 set and get as many of those signed as possible... hence my earlier post. I still need a list of those players. Probably a dumb question, but do retail outlets not sell hobby boxes? I thought a hobby box was basically equivalent to a wax box (for all practical purposes), which is what all of the Targets/Walmarts usually carry.
I would have to agree that hobby would be the better route to go, but even after my two retail cases with no decent pulls I couldn't resist the 6 blasters that Walmart had today....I should have though. The first blaster had six packs in a row with no minis, the highlights were: 1-Flag 1-Eric Chavez Pants...like I needed another one 5-Black Minis 1-Bazooka Back Ian Snell
I only got 3 minis that I needed, I'm pretty sure I would have been better off buying a hobby box with the $120 instead. I may have to order a few hobby boxes just to keep myself away from the retail junk.

Probably a dumb question, but do retail outlets not sell hobby boxes? I thought a hobby box was basically equivalent to a wax box (for all practical purposes), which is what all of the Targets/Walmarts usually carry.
Am I wrong?
I've got one on the way, as well as a bunch of old racks from BBC Exchange (including 78 Topps rack, etc)
