I figure Russ is testing us. I'd say "No" on the AH designations, but what do I know? That's why I bought one of Russ'!

Marty, when you buy '64 proof sets, you should look for AHs, they're worth a little moreimage

Hello. If you would, can you elaborate on the "struck through the thread" coin. I received a similiar JFK in one of my 2006 proof sets and was wondering what that peculiar marking was. HM

When the mint wiped the dies with a cloth a thread stayed on the die. When the coin was struck the imprint of the thread was transfered to the coin. They aren't worth more than a regular coin but I always found them a very cool errors. There are also coin that have been struck through wire, when they used a wire brush on the dies a piece would stay and get struck into the coin.

    A thread?

    A thread?

    A STINKING THREAD??

I prefer my proofs struck thru miniature ray guns or other alien artifacts:

I saw a coin at a show that was struck thru a wire and the wire was still in the coin! I should have bought that one when I had the chance!
