<< <i>Been wanting a copy of this card for some time but wanted an authenticated copy that was affordable. I got this one in a BGS 8 for $20 BIN. I got it to break from the case and send to get signed. Not sure what I'll request as the inscription though.

    Sure had an interesting swing!

The Man was known for having MANY different batting stances... always trying to improve. I also loved it when he was in the field, he would take a few steps forward during each and every pitch, just so his feet are moving and ready for anything. I do the same thing in my "Beer League" softball league. Good times...

Today I received a card I won from Steve and he is AWESOME at packing/shipping. Won this card for $98.00 and I think it was a great deal.

I just spent considerable time reviewing what people have been picking up.

    image

I picked up a while back two more emblems for my set - I'm now short 3 to the checklist.

    image

If anyone is wondering what these are and didn't catch my write-up, here's the thread.

    Thanx for viewing.

Just in from SGC - the card has a spectacular exmt look, but with some slight back problems. I bought it raw on ebay.

First boxing one. I have owned a few bsaeball. I really don't know what to do with this card right now. I technically paid too much for it according to SGC, so it is probably unsaleable, but it is just so darn pretty. I mean, I don't think that I would return it if given the option. Guess I'll just have to give it the love it needs. image

John, 14 more to go. Only one current set has been completed in 8 or better. So far I'm sitting at a gpa of 8 and 70% with one more on the way. Some real tough cards await. I had a good run but I'm expecting things to slow dramatically from here with this set. Feel free to scout out a few of the tougher cards for me image

Great cards. I love this set too. It's too bad it's gone down so much in demand, but I think that's attributed more to it's scarcity than lack of interest. Got 3 of the Clemens myself.

My first guess was Johnny Roseboro. I think that's likely correct, as he was on the 1961 NL All-Star team (as the picture was pretty clearly taken at the All-Star game at Fenway Park).

Actually, that was one of the several years in which they played two all-star games. The first was at Candlestick, the second at Fenway.

It would be if that's an "NY" on the cap. Nice shot of the Green Monster in the background also.

I'm not so much proud of this as much as posting it here to ask for knowledge. I think it's a "strip card", I know al lassman was a star at NYU and then drowned saving kids.

    Questions -

    Will PSA grade this?
What do I put on the sheet, is it a W-something card? I'm sure it's newer than 1925 but I don't know how much newer. He played at NYU in 1928.

Should I try to trim down the poor cut or leave it alone? I don't care at all if it gets a 1 or a 2, I don't plan on selling it and the holder is just to keep it safe from further damage.

Thanks to anybody who can help!

I believe this is a W560 which was issued in a sheet with boxers and baseball players and other celebrities. It is not expensive, $5-$10, and would be graded by the grading services. Do not cut it down further as the outline of a border is desireable. Hope this helps.

Picked-up this 1971 PSA 9 tonight! It is the only example graded by PSA. Note that the right "dotted line" is not there, yet PSA graded it a PSA 9 anyway! I guess the grader thought it was well-centered example anyway, and gave it a nine! image

Anyway, I liked it for under $20!

    Halo

    Those Churchmans are tremendous!

I think it's interesting, BTW, that they refer to them as "personalities."

What made ya pick up the Henje? She was absolutely the most popular skater during this period. Sorta like Dorothy Hamill. She was in a lot of movies also.

I have a 36 Olympic card of her also.

    Thanx for sharing

Thnks Mike. Somehow the Henje showed up a search I was doing. I thought it be would be a nice addition as a type card.

It is a post fight promo postcard sold in San Fransisco after the fight. There are a ton of different shots, some action and some posed. This is a posed shot, I believe, because the crowd is not watching the action. Most people are looking at something going on to the right.
