You may be correct by saying the Mod's want Plastic, but I have a feeling that some or perhaps most FDCC collectors are not your ordinary Mod collector, but a combination of Grand Parents, Dads or Moms (collecting for their kids or grand kids) toss in a few Teachers for history purposes or even a FDC stamp collector. I collect coins, but I would never consider sending in the FDCC's to a TPG. Santa will have some great stocking stuffers for the grand kids this year....

What obscene expectations people have these days--if a product doesn't sell out in ONE WEEK, it's not worth messing with? I guess there are four types of people on this forum. Naturally, there are the collectors who don't intend to profit from their coins, and the investors, who intend to hold their coins for years. Then there's the flippers (yes, I'm one of them) who buy a promising new issue and hold it for three to twelve months. Evidently another category is emerging: coin daytraders. That coin hasn't tripled in value in the last week? Dump it!
I heard they were making a French version of Medal of Honor. I wonder how many hotkeys it'll have for "surrender."
I ordered mine the very first day. Expected to ship 4/5. I keep getting emails telling me they are backordered, and they keep pushing the ship date back further and further. I find this unacceptable. I ordered them within 5 minutes of noon, right when they went on sale. Therefore, if I find out that one of you got your orders, and I don't get mine, and I find out you ordered yours after I placed mine, I expect you all to do the right thing and send me your cases, FOC. I'll PM you my po box should it come to this. Please do not hesitate to comply. God bless.

Ok, first things first. What exactly did you mean by "within 5 minutes of noon"? Are we talking closer to 6 minutes? Check your order receipt for the exact time, not that I'm making any admissions.
My first order 24798xxx ordered on 4/4 now shows in stock and reserved with the cancel box gone.
My second order 24854xxx ordered on 4/10 shows backordered with expected ship date of 4/23 and has the cancel box.
I guess that means I'll be receiving the first order soon.
I ordered it along with the Kennedy half dollars hoping they would split the order up since they had different availability dates for shipping. Kennedys have a ship date of 5/1.

These covers will not even come Close to matching the popularity of the anniversary Eagle sets.
You may be reading about the "SLEEPER" of 2007........as far as a % base of profit. From what I have read about the upcoming products of the Mint.....And if .........(IF).. they (US MINT) produces a RP of Plat..........I cant see anything that compares to 2006...IMHO
Ordered one from mint after sell out. If I get it I will buy the rest of series, if I don't I will not buy any of series. These will never be as popular as the SAE anniv set. I am glad I bought a lot of those when I had the chance. I kept buying the SAE sets after sellout, $140, $175, and stopped when they hit $200. They had the magic in them. I do hope everyone does well with their flips.
A lot of people seem to be missing the point that these FDCs contain the real first strikes. Once the TPGs recognize this, Katy bar the door. Also this will breath new life into the neglected state quarter FDCs.
The 2 I ordered on 4-4 9PM are now in stock and reserved but the one's I ordered on 4-9 are still on back order, I put another order for 2 more today but they are sold out so we will see.

Sour grapes? Over a fifteen dollar item? *laugh out loud* No. I know when the Mint products go on sale and had every opportunity to buy as many as I wished to - I'm simply stating a belief. I bought all I wanted at face value not seven times that.
Honestly, I hope everyone here speculating on this issue makes enough dough on the secondary market to send their kids to Harvard. It would not be the first time people profited from the ignorant or at least the not as quickly informed. I just don't think there will be too much long term value in these covers. I mean, really, the State quarter covers have pretty much flopped and those coins circulate! What makes you think these Presidential dollars will fare any better? Release quantity? Hey, maybe. All the power to you.
If you become rich selling your wares I’ll raise a toast to you on said, dump less, picnic blanket.
I think there is still a few variables which will determine the value of these FDCC's
1. How well received the "First day of Mintage" slab label and grades turn out. 2. Just how many of these get busted for grading.
If grading becomes a real factor then obviously sealed mint boxes should bring a premium. If 65's starting running $100 then I think most of these will be cracked and submitted.
I do not think there is much down side to these covers.
I also think NGC designation will have a huge impact on the "First Strike" "Early release" designations in the future. If this destroys the FDI et al designations the Mint will be in the driver's seat with future coin covers. They can now create these to demand and reap the benefits.
As far as the state quarter covers go, they have been a real dud for the most part up to this point. However, if PCGS and NGC were to create a special holder "First Day of Production" for each cover, the whole series would come back to life. If you add up the number of covers from all the states, millions have been produced. This would mean big proffits for the grading companys and should provide more than enough incentive to produce the special "First Day of Production" inserts.
