Another /10 Snider relic is up on the Bay - thought I'd pull them all together

This is the Kurt pulled - still the best-looking one IMO

Dan - don't misunderstand - I don't own a single one of those (wish I did, though!). I was just posting pix of /10 Sniders.

I tried to pry Kurt's from him, but understandably he's got other plans for it.

np - I wasn't intending to mislead anyone. I've thought about going after some of the duals for past years, but they tend to go for insane prices. If I was going to drop that kind of coin into single Heritage cards, I'd do it with autos, not relics.

Ok, I bought my first two packs of baseball cards in years. One Heritage and 1 Topps. It seems that I got atleast one of the cards a couple of you are looking for.

Not sure If I got what I paid for ($2.99 / $1.99) at Target!

    Anyone need these cards:

    2007 Topps Heritage

    #43, 313, 259, 332, NP2, 388, 378, 469, Students: work hard card.

Just curious here. Who wasLew Burdette Pitching for in '58? Notice his hat has an "M" on it for Milwakee on it, yet Warren Spohn has a "B" on hie for Boston. Was 1958 the year the Braves moved from "B" to "M"? Are the pictures in the cards correct for the year is the real question? Just curious, if anyone can answer this without going to the books?
By the way, nice collection of game used...
By the way, the uniform pants look the same.

Ok, so these are the only two #13s then right:

    image

I know, I know I'm a pain with this... I just want to make sure I am only searching for things that actually exist image

Also, figured I would share a fun pull I had today. I'm to the point where I'm going to hold off on T.Heritage packs for a while and focus on trades to finish my set but I'm too addicted to the thrill of the opening of packs to not buy something when I go to the card shop so I figured I would get a box of Bowman Heritage to check them out. To my surprise I see this in the next to last pack:

    image

    image

The wrapper says these are 1/6005 packs so I guess I did alright with it; sadly it only starts to make up for the lack of luck I have had with the T.Heritage pulls (no Auto image )

Only tough part is I'm such a big Indians fan but find myself having to root for a Det pitcher to make a splash in the majors...

    Oh and JmMiller...

The Spahn card has an older photo on it as the Braves moved to Mil in 1953. The Then&Now Spahn actually has the photo used on his orig Topps 1958 card with him sporting his "M" hat so at least they got him right in one of his photos...

BTW, just a small pet complaint on the set since we are talking about the Vintage Player photos; did they have to use the same Mantle picture on his N&T card as they did on all the stupid HR cards? If you are going to give us 42 Mantle cards that look exactly the same cant you at least give us a different photo on his other card? I boo you Topps! ~ but I still love the set image

In 1958 the No. 13 card had three variations. Like this year's Heritage set, it was a lefthanded Tiger pitcher named Billy Hoeft.

The first two variations were obvious, white or yellow name of the player as such:
    imageimage

but there was a third variation. It also had white lettering, but if you look down at the right hand corner of the card, there is a different color triangle by his foot.

    1. Do we have an update to Bunkers fantastic chart from several pages back?

    2. I just updated my small list in my sigline if anyone cares to check it out. It's a word document.

    3. If anyone has any extra relics that they'd want to sell outright, I may be interested. Our boy thinks those are THE coolest.

Thanks to all that have traded with me thus far!!

That's why I just put the base set in, then stuck all the variations together in the back. A lot less devastating when something like that happens.

OK, I've read them, and reread them, and if I'm understanding right, all Paul was saying was that in '58 Billy Hoeft had three variations, which I already knew. I don't think those three variations carry through on the #13 Ledezma. I've only seen the two. Has there been confirmation of a third Ledezma? Does someone have scanned proof?

Let me understand this. There are 3 variations of the #13 Ledezma. I know of the triangle and no triangle. What is the third variation? Does anyone have a scan of the 3 variations?

<< <i>OK, I've read them, and reread them, and if I'm understanding right, all Paul was saying was that in '58 Billy Hoeft had three variations, which I already knew. I don't think those three variations carry through on the #13 Ledezma. I've only seen the two. Has there been confirmation of a third Ledezma? Does someone have scanned proof?

Has anyone seen a white letter variation of #13 Ledezma without the triangle?

I am not shifting all of my cards one spot. No way. No how. Not gonna happen. Not in a million years.

I wonder how long it will take me when I do.

    I don't think there is a variation.

I have not found one in the two cases I opened.

I looked for it right at the beginning because I knew about the Hoeft variation and I could only find the two cards.

The Ledezma with the yellow team name does not have the yellow triangle

The white team name has the yellow triangle.

Topps is just tributing the '58 set.

But... I bet somebody will take a yellow magic marker and take a white team name and make it yellow, so you'll see the "third variation."

After busting 44 boxes both Hobby and Retail I have not seen this variation.
I have noticed subtle color differences and that some cards apparently cannot be found in "mint" condition, 25 OC cards of Luis Castillo and 22 Mark Mulder cards riddled with blemishes. Only one clean Tom Glavine the other 18 are riddled with tiny fisheyes.
Some the all star cards of Ichiro and Wright do appear to have lighter print on the back particularly the star where the number is, none of the other 500 AS cards show this difference.

Is anyone taking the color /shade variation seriously ?
Whoever said we wash away with the rain ?

I don't believe that there is a third variation, atleast I have not seen one, but since you some of you guys want to see one so bad I photoshopped one up for you.

All right, can I resort to begging now? I'm 3 cards away from the complete set. Here they be:

    86 Fred Lewis
    140 Johnny Damon
    483 Derek Jeter

I'll do a 5 for 3 trade (perhaps somebody has these and would take trade bait) in order to make the set and allow me to walk by the Blasters and not immediately pick up some (not sure completing the set would help, but one never knows).

    Thanks,

Well my two retail cases finally showed up today, I just finished the second box and in the next to the last pack is a blue auto Don Zimmer, and I still have 14 more boxes to open up. The cases were well worth the wait.image

I grabbed four blasters at Target on my way home. I got 25 SPs, one refractor, one chrome and six other inserts from the first 2 boxes. That is an average of over 2 SPs/inserts per pack. I will update when I open the other two boxes.

edited because I sorted what thought were base cards

I just wanted to give props to Heritage Addict. We made a trade for some SP's and inserts and he threw in every single base card (about 35 cards) that I needed to finish my set.

However, I think he might be a liar. I'm pretty sure that addicts don't just give away the item they are addicted to. image

Just wanted to let everyone know and publicly thank him.

Glad you got them Travis, I got yours today, thanks for the great trade experience. Well I am now five boxes into the first case and so far one zimmer blue auto, one bunning seat relic, and one edmonds black refractor. Well back to the boxes, hopefully I'll have the trade list updated tomorrow, I should have lots of stuff to help you guys finish your sets.

Just taking a quick break from opening packs. I am through one case and thought I would post a picture of the highlights, look at the Bunning Relic, have any of you guys seen one like this, all I have seen are the wood, this one is a dark green kind of rubber but harder and satin not shiney. I just thought it was kind of unusual.

Well guys, with only one more trade incoming, and after briefly resorting to some eBay buys, I'm only 4 subset cards away from my master set, including chromes. I'm hoping to find the following 4 cards before slumming to eBay and paying 3 bucks to get a 50 cent card shipped. This has been, without question, the best trading and story swapping set I've done, and it's all due to the crew on this board!

    Mantle: 10, 15, 26
    NAP: 2

I'm also interested in extra Clemens (base, chrome or SP), Jeter, ARod, and Pujols cards for player sets.

I have these cards AVAILABLE to trade:

    Mantle: 25, 30, 40
    NAP: 13, 14
    FB: 3, 9 (2)

    Refractors: 69, 100

    Chrome: 42

    YTN: 13, 20, 58W
    SP: 31 (2), 77, 159, 239, 275, 294, 393, 437, 465, 482

Please send me a PM with offers/ideas, thanks.

I can finally understand what the heritage hype is all about.

After buying my first two heritage boxes ever last week ( hobby ), I picked up 4 blasters at target today. No autos as of yet and still only the one CC, but I picked up a couple of more chromes and a handfull of SP's.

Id like to put together a master set without having to buy too many more boxes ( for now ) so if anyone is looking to sell extras I need a few more base cards and the following SP's...

    4, 13, 14, 22, 23, 31, 32, 40, 41, 58, 59, 67, 68, 76,77, 85, 94, 95, 103, 104, 112, 113, 121, 131, 140, 149, 158, 159, 167, 168, 176, 177, 185, 186, 194, 195, 212, 213, 221, 222, 230, 231, 239, 248, 257, 258, 266, 275, 276, 293, 294, 302, 303, 311, 312, 320, 329, 330, 339, 347, 348, 356, 365, 366, 375, 384, 392, 393, 401, 410, 419, 420, 429, 437, 446, 447, 455, 456, 465, 473, 482, 491

    Yellow name- 23, 30, 46, 53, 57, 60, 65, 70, 78, 92, 97

    Yellow team name- 11, 13, 20, 33, 35, 58, 76, 77, 79, 81, 85, 100

Wow, here we are not even a month into it and the boards are crazy with heritage. I have watched as this train gets bigger and bigger
each year, but this year has really taken off. Not only have the pulls been amazing (thanks mosty to retail cases!), but all the eyes
and ears have provided plenty of info (including a triple variation that almost gave me a heritage-binder heart attack!)

Lets keep the stories and great pulls coming. Its never too late to get in and of course never too late to fill the shelves with past
heritage sets. I am a bit disappointed that no one here has pulled one of the three cuts..geezh!

Even Mike got off the schnide with a ink pull.

Its good to be a heritage collector!

    Kevin,
It sure is. This is my first full year of Heritage - and I'm definitely hooked now. I got in on last years set around October so it was a little difficult to say the least. Glad I got in from the beginning this time.
