Regarding card #50 (Mark Buehrle). According to the sheet I have, there is the yellow variation of the team name. Does anyone have one that does not have the team name in yellow? The only ones I have seen are all YELLOW. 86nova Craig in Ohio

    Guys,

Blowout cards DROPPED their 12 box hobby from 679.99 to 644.99 DELIVERED. Amazingly just $53.75 per box. How many times has a bigger dealer dropped its Heritage cases at the onset of release? That is an awfully good delivered price and makes me wonder if they are just awash in cases. In contrast, Dave and Adams price for the 12 box hobby is a WHOPPING 760 bucks and I don't know about the shipping. That is a minimum of a $115 dollar difference image

    Thoughts?

  • Knopfler,

Great pull on the Red! Two autographs so far? Wow! I have opened three boxes and the best card so far is a Torii Hunter Clubhouse Collection. I plan on busting some more tomorrow. I'll let you know if I get any ink!

Craig....I can confirm a white letter team name Buehrle. I have three, let me know if you need one!

As far as the blowout prices, I believe that he wanted to see how many heritage collectors he could take to the cleaners before the
real rips have come out. I can honestly say that unless you are a die hard heritage geek, you won't think that this stuff is worth
the money. How many no ink 700 case rips do you have to have until the price drops?? We have seen plenty.

I only see the price dropping. Retail always kills the hobby market, but at what point is hobby better than retail? At 53 bucks a box it
sure is! 3 blasters will cost you 60 plus tax. I wonder if retail case will drop too?

Well, I have that familar pain in my shoulder blade.....from putting my set in sheets!!!! Of course I messed up and had to move
each card over one......I know we have all been there. I appreicate all the scans. There have been some amazing pulls so far, and
there are still many many more boxes and packs to be opened.

Let us know if you find retail and where. It should be out soon!

    Parker95,

Yes, I'm pretty happy so far. I have gone through 18 boxes so far though. I'm gonna have to call it a night though because I'm starting to get Topps Tunnel or Carpel Heritage or something like that from ripping these new plastic packs.

    Kevin,
Thanks for the info. and your generous offer. I'll keep on trying, the law of averages has got to come into play sooner or later. 2001 was certainly much simpler--- 311-407 period. Craig

  • After a few trades the past few days I only need two Derek Jeter cards (Short Print 483 - New Age Performers NP6 ) to be completely finished with Heritage for this year. Of course I'm sure I'll rip the four retail boxes that are in route! Anyway, I'll keep my trade list up to date so if anybody wants to trade Derek Jeter cards from other sets for my available Heritage that's fine with me. Also if anyone participating in the 1978 Baseball group rip wants to trade their NM raw cards (not quite PSA submission worthy) for Heritage I'll be glad to accomodate.

    Here's the updated list:

Base Set: I have several hundred of the non - short prints available. The SP's I've listed on eBay.

    Flashbacks: 1-3-4-5-7-8-9-10

    Then & Now: 3(2)-4-6-7

    New Age Performers: 4-8-9-11

    ARod HR Cards: 55-63-65-68

    Chrome Refractors: THC86 J.D. Drew 435/558 - THC90 Pedro Feliz 451/558 - THC108 Andre Ethier 551/558

Edited to remove eBay link - Probably not appropriate for this forum.
  • 4 Boxes into my case and still not a single Then and Now insert. No ink, and one relic (Posada GU pants of all things) - multiples of many subset cards, and already 3 Yellow Team name Swisher variations...

That can't be a picture of Schoendienst in his playing days. Christ, he looks like my grandfather in that photo. Can't really picture him hitting the weights or putting in an additional order at BALCO.

  • Has anyone found or seen a Swisher non-yellow? I think this card is not in the set. Someone asked on Beckett, but there has been no answer.

    Thanx for the info Dan.

I'm kinda with Kevin on this.

The price I paid since I bought late was OK with me at about 56 per box.

    I collect the set - that's it.

I have only pulled one auto and I've been collecting it since 2001.

    It hasn't deterred me.

I would like the excitement of pulling something nice but that's a bonus.

At 3 bucks retail per pack, this is - IMO - one of the nicest products ever to enter the market.

    Let the ripping commence.

    Geordie

OK, I'm two boxes in - I had to go back & look for SPs once I figured out that when a Mantle comes up, there is an accompanying SP in front of it. Also, the box toppers are way cool.

    Box 1
    12 SPs + 4 variations
    3 chrome
    2 Flashbacks
    2 Then & Now
    2 New Age Performers
1 GU - Jeff Weaver jersey
    2 ARods
    4 Mantles
    Pirates box topper

    Box 2
    12 SPs (including Jeter) + 4 variations
    1 chrome, 1 refractor
    2 Flashbacks
    1 Then & Now
    1 New Age Performer
1 GU - Mark Teixeira jersey
    0 ARods
    4 Mantles
    Red Sox box topper

    Box 3
    12 SPs + 4 variations
    2 chrome, 1 refractor
    2 Flashbacks
    2 Then & now
    2 New Age Performer
1 GU - Ronnie Belliard bat
    4 Mantles
    Phillies box topper

    Box 4
    12 SPs + 3 variations
    3 chrome
    2 Flashbacks
    3 Then & Now
    1 New Age Performer
    0 GU
    3 Mantles
    Cubs box topper

    Box 5
With the Swisher situation, I either have: 13 SPs + 4 variations, or 12 SPs + 5 variations
    1 chrome, 1 refractor
    2 Flashbacks
    1 Then & Now
    2 New Age Performer
    1 GU - Moises Alou
    5 Mantles
    Yankees box topper

WOW, great to see all the rips and new collectors here. Heritage is in full tilt. This is the biggest week in the hobby. Lots of
    ripping and discovery.

The Jeter #40 is from regular topps, this thread is about heritage. In the end, the heritage Jeter will be worth more.

As far as my set, I put all the SP's in penny sleeves then into sheets, all the other cards just go in as is. I have noticed plenty of
OC cards and some print marks, which I hope I will improve on when I have all my cards in order...getting them in the sheets without
skipping something is the biggest challenge.

Im glad someone else was excited about the felt toppers. I can't figure out when the Yankees one is all red..oh well

I will have plenty of chromes to trade if someone needs them. I would rather deal them here first before ebay.

Clemens black refractor is one of the best ones congrats!!

    Kevin
  • I'm in sensory overload here, still have 7 boxes to open from my case but I'm already in the trading mode - so many interesting cards to trade... I'm not planning to do the chrome or refractor sets other than a couple of players, so I'll have plenty of those to trade as well. I'm thinking the Mantle subset might be achievable, but I have zero plans for my Arod subset cards. I'm definitely taking the day off on Friday to catch up to you guys!

  • << <i>...getting them in the sheets without
skipping something is the biggest challenge.Kevin >>

A trick I've used the past couple of years is to establish a red line on my excel spreadsheet after every nine cards. This way, as I'm ultimately putting the cards in a binder (even if I'm not at a complete set yet), I can get a good feel for where the cards should be placed.

  • joestalinjoestalin Posts: 12,473 ✭✭
The one thing I have noticed about the sheets is that they are really uneven. Topps has made every 9 cards a short print in the higher
numbers, which means if you use penny sleeves for all the SP's that they fall in the same place in each page. Im not sure if this will
damage the cards over a long period of time, but I might have do something about that.

Has anyone noticed that the blue background cards have penty of printer dots on them?? Condition freaks are going to have a hard
time with some of these cards.

It is early, but it looks like the chrome set isn't getting much love here. Maybe its just too hard to put together?

Also, a Yankee team set will book more than 100 bucks, it seems like all the Yankee greats are short printed. Sorry to New York fans.

ok, a quick question about two cards in particular: #58 Swisher and #76 Hamels. They are both listed as SPs, plus both appear on the yellow team list. I've pulled two yellow team Swishers, so the regular SP is a white team? I've pulled one yellow team Hamels, so the same question applies. I've looked on the Bay, and I haven't seen anything other than the yellow team listed for either player. I'm assuming it is the same situation as the Buehrle that Bunker has pictures of?

    Thanks!

    Geordie

  • I like the chromes, but the player selection is kinda crappy. Not much to get excited about.

I have pulled multiples of the white hamels so that does exist. I'll trade you one if you need it.

I don't think that the white Swisher does. No one here has said they found one, after 25 boxes I haven' and ebay doesn't show any either. So those of you already popping yours into pages, you may have to move them all back one spot. image
  • On Swisher, it seems like there are two font types/widths - not sure if that's the "variation" but I noticed it on two different cards I pulled...
  • TNP777TNP777 Posts: 5,711 ✭✭✭
    Jay, thanks.

I'm most of the way through five boxes, and with the Swisher yellow team, I've pulled my first SP/variation dupe. So then, if a white team Swisher doesn't exist, I guess that makes the yellow team Swisher the official SP, right?

So is there another yellow team variation that takes Swisher's place?

Yikes! Kevin, you might want to have an adult beverage and hold in place for awhile.

OK, in box 6 I pulled a regular white team #76 Hamels, which makes the yellow team Hamels in box 5 a variation. That would make the Swisher with bolder font my 12th SP from that box, I would guess.

At any rate, here's box 6
    12 SPs + 4 variations
    2 chrome, 1 refractor
    2 Flashbacks
    1 Then & Now
    2 New Age Performer
    0 GU
    0 ARod
    4 Mantles
    Phillies box topper (dupe)

    oh yeah, HOF ink

(borrowed scan from eBay - too busy ripping to mess with the scanner)
    image

    Box 7
10 SPs + 5 variations. got hosed on the SPs in this box
3 chrome, including the A's team card. Why chrome team cards this year?
    3 Flashback
    1 Then & Now
    2 New Age Performer
    0 GU
    1 ARod
    3 Mantle
    Orioles box topper

Halfway through the case, here's where I am:
    71/110 SPs with one dupe
12/17 yellow name variations with no dupes
11/16 yellow team variations with no dupes
    4 GU
    12 chrome, 4 refractors
    8/10 Flashbacks with four dupes
7/10 Then & Now with four dupes
10/15 New Age Performers with no dupes
24 Mantles with no dupes - are there 42 total Mantles?
    1 HOF ink
  • HOF ink? No more details than that Geordie?

  • Geordie, did I miss it somewhere? What HOF ink did you pull?
  • So, does anyone want to trade a regular font Swisher for a bold font? I need a regular.

BTW: The logo is almost black on one of the variations.

Might be worth the time to try to doctor the Swisher card to make it white...actually it appears by my breaks that both cards
are short printed. In 14 boxes I have only gotten 3. Looks like there are super SP's again this year. The Hamels is one...also the
Irod All Star card. Can anyone with multiple case rips confirm?

Box 8 (AKA the dupes box)
12 SPs (with the assumption that the non-bold Swisher is the SP) + 5 variations. All SPs were dupes. Yellow team variations now complete
1 chrome, 1 refractor (Clemens), 1 black (David Ross)
    2 Flashback (both dupes)

Jay - I've pulled all the cards you mentioned with the exception of the IRod AS

    Geordie

  • Are the variations short printed? I'm guessing not, but I'd like to make sure...

I've only opened a couple of packs so far but I really like this product! I wish they sold baseball cards at Wal-Mart's in Quebec so I could get me some blaster boxes when they come out! Unfortunately, they don't sell cards at Wal-Mart's here, not even hockey cards... image

I'll post my small tradelist when I'm done sorting through my cards!
